1. Basically the idea or ideas use the concept of wireless passive beacons/indicators,
wavelength/radio technology, potentiometer technology, and hazardous material
notification technology to help guide and alert motorists; civilian, military, and
emergency personnel. There is communication between road, auto,
programmer/management center, and road infrastructure similar to what DOT has in
some cities, but with upgraded technology and far more capabilities.
a. They could be controlled and lit by:
i. DOT: The original idea was given to help on rainy or snowy nights. When
motorists can’t see the roads as well and sometimes older paint lines can
be deceptive. These markers/LED luminescence devices could indicate
where the true lane lies, and when a lane was closed. They could be
controlled and lit by the DOT to represent lanes merging when there is an
accident. These devices can also detect temperature and vibration
alerting DOT immediately of a tractor trailer on fire or an impact or an
“event.” The DOT may control but they also have the ability to illuminate
themselves due to an “event” or approaching signal generator (car,

where you might not see headlights in time around a tight turn.

and be able to take the abuse of plows.
3. Now I don’t know if you would want them to be able to disable
cars or make EV cars slow down and move to the side for
emergency vehicles but this could be in the next phase of

illuminate to show contaminated areas of hazardous chemical.
The indicators could communicate to the approaching cars and
they could be notified by their onboard systems… like Sync® on
Ford® or Onstar® on GM® or through cell phones. We already
have smart phone technology that can show when you are close
to facilities. Now we can use the technology to indicate close
proximity or either danger or services such as a police man or
emergency responder. Where the road or indicators in the road or
sidewalk can illuminate to show where the service or officer

help with confusing or poorly marked highways or short unmarked ramps, such
as the one in Atlanta at Northside drive where buses have driven off killing
children. This technology would have easily saved those lives. It keeps the driver

lay ahead. Traffic can be guided in a more manageable way without the need for
wired systems to be installed. This allows the indicators to be used for
everything from crosswalks to runways at airports to major construction routes.
Everyone receives direct benefit when we have early indications of any
emergency situation. For example if a person is in their car and they see a crime
or need immediate care of an officer or assistance of an emergency responder
then they may also touch a button on phone or car that will illuminate the
closest officer or emergency member as well as notify dispatch. Even delivery
carriers can utilize this technology for locating destinations to tracking vehicles.
c. Useful conditions: The product is useful in many situations from emergency
guidance, to notification of emergency or hazards both visually and digitally
through the network to the motorist and the management systems. It can be
used in inclement weather, fall out, evacuation routes as well as areas that are
under evacuation. It can be used in war like conditions. It can be used when a car
is being chased and the onboard system can be charged to set off the
luminescence of the indicators to help track the vehicle in case it is lost in chase.
d. The indicator is great because it works with the immediate close user as well as
the management systems, and the online community as well. These systems will
all work hand in hand at times and the indicators can also indicate other sensors
that have passed an area if tracking a hazardous waste vehicle, etc. The
indicators take are useful as they will minimize response times to places an
“event” has happened. It is wireless technology so there is a reduction in cost to
produce and maintain. They are multifunctional as they have ability to transmit
and receive. Some models can actually dissipate heat and other functions that
will be environmentally dedicated to its area and use. Users may be notified by
onboard systems, mobile systems, as well visual. These devices would attempt to
standardize the global understanding a means of traffic guidance and response.
Since an approaching car can turn on the LED or luminescence of the device
farther ahead then the headlights can reach this have benefits for reaching
anything we have today. This could indicate cars ahead, approaching or leaving,
even if there was an emergency vehicle ahead. These indicators can either be on
like a light or glow with luminescence that slowly fades and this gives an

is a massive stop in traffic on a freeway like a the split of 85 and 75 in Atlanta
then the indicators send out a signal making all the brake lights of the cars in the
traffic to flash an amber or some other color indicating they are at a complete
stop. To notify motorist directly behind the jam approaching at a high rate of
speed. As well the indicators in the road can flash or shine a solid color to show
stopped traffic ahead and even indicate which lanes were blocked. They would
also communicate with the signs on the roads to tell of the traffic congestions.
But more importantly begin to guide them around the incident.
e. This concept is very dependent on DSCR technology in that it allows for two way
communications between users, management systems/centers (DOT), passive
two way beacon/indicators, mobile devices, and emergency services. It is a
system unlike ones seen or used before.
f. The concept is innovative as it will use inexpensive technology which isn’t fully
mentioned to keep some of the chips in my court. But it will use passive diodes
which we can call indicators or smart reflectors to help out in many ways. They
can be outfitted with smart chips as well which can be licensed and sold to
private companies to use for their monitoring purposes. This is beneficial
because it can ease the cost by selling bandwidth or space on the system along
with financing through federal debt. The creation of revenue can increase the
probable return on bond purchases for these types of projects, therefore
increasing investor interest. This product will be great as it is easily understood
by the new users and even the old users can benefit as they have the visual
indications not just the new age mobile and onboard systems.
2. The new device would be easy to implement as there are different phases of the device.
It can be almost painted onto the street; it can be installed in existing streets, or built
into new interchanges and city road ways. Keep in mind this has practical uses on
remote highways in the back regions of Montana to the surface streets of New York. It
will utilize existing systems, mobile networks, new and old vehicles, and allow for
implementation of new developments without having to reinstall new components. It
would be widely adopted as it is something that works as a passive indicator meaning
there isn’t a required user input to activate the device though it does have that
capability as well. The symbols, colors and indicators (colorblind must be able to use as
well) will be globally understood and accepted. Since they can be used for emergency or
even to notify your car of approaching congestion so it can switch over to electric or run
on fewer cylinders. This use of DSCR technology, networks, and devices will save lives
and decrease cost for global, national, local DOT, and emergency responders. As far as
the cost and hurdles. There would be the normal cost incased with increasing
technology on such a large scale but I think the end result would benefit the major
manufacturer of vehicles, mobile devices, in car systems, and city planners. There is the
technology design that would have to be finalized so that is upgradable at minimal cost
with programming cost not device and unit cost.
These are only a few of the benefits as this device has an infinite amount of uses for all types of
shipping, traffic or emergency management, monitoring, DOT notifications of hazardous
situations, military (which I barely hit on), even stopping a stolen vehicle, and working with
current traffic signals and traffic management, even down to cross walks and roundabouts.
