Incredible Years Parent Group Peer Coach Consultation Workshop

With Dr. Caroline White, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

                                     5th March 2013 (Cardiff)
This is a supervision and support day for people who have previously undertaken peer coach
training with Dr. White. Participants will be expected to bring videotape of a session of peer
coaching and have a specific goal for the supervision.

What are peer coaches?
Peer coaches are certified programme leaders who then undertake a further two days peer coach
training, approximately six weeks apart. The first day develops skills in supervision and familiarises
participants with the Incredible Years monitoring forms for supervision, through brainstorm
exercises and role-play. On the second day participants return to show videotaped examples of their
practice at peer coaching. Following day two there is a Peer Coach accreditation process that is
similar to that of the Parent Group Leader accreditation. This training is regularly available from
Dr. White in Manchester and occasionally in Wales.

Dr. Caroline White, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Head of the Children & Parents’
Service (CAPS) for Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, leads and
manages the city wide, multi-agency CAPS Early Intervention Service. Caroline is also an
accredited Incredible Years (IY) Trainer and over the past 10 years has delivered many effective,
evidence based IY parent groups in both clinical and community settings to parents of children
with behaviour problems. She has also trained and supervised hundreds of professionals in
accredited IY parent training workshops both nationally and internationally. Caroline has
successfully contributed to the development of Manchester’s multi-agency parenting strategy and
is a national consultant for the implementation of parent training for IAPT (Improving Access to
Psychological Therapies) throughout England. Her research interests and publications include
service development, evidence based implementation and cognitive aspects of parent training.
