Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Sales Manager ensures that the dealership meets its unit sales quotas and gross profit objectives on a daily,
monthly and yearly basis. S/he accomplishes these objectives through planning, organizing, coordinating and
measuring the activities of the new and used vehicle Sales Teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
    PLANNING AND FORECASTING
     Prepare monthly and yearly forecasts for unit sales, gross profit objectives, and departmental profits.
     Work with the General Manager and GSM to forecast vehicle inventory requirements by department for
      the immediate 90-day sales period based on sales and market analysis.
     Recommend and implement short- and long-range plans for marketing, advertising, sales promotions,
      lease promotions and car rentals.
     Analyze staffing needs and compensation plans to develop recruiting strategies to fulfill those needs.

    SALES OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
     Maintain an effective lead management system to monitor and manage showroom traffic, E-commerce
      leads and telephone prospects.
     Monitor and manage sales processes, desk activities and vehicle appraisals to assist sales consultants with
      product selection, negotiations and closing of deals.
     Monitor and manage a balanced vehicle inventory within 90-day aging guidelines for new cars and 45-day
      aging guidelines for CPO and used cars.
     Monitor and manage brand standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining vehicles.
     Lead all sales employees in their efforts to enhance the customer experience and dealership image to
      achieve 100% Customer Satisfaction.
     Work with the Service and Parts Managers to develop seamless and efficient vehicle preparation and
      delivery processes, including “we owe” customer follow up.
     Review commission sheets, productivity reports, unit sales/forecasts, and profit performance on a monthly
      basis with the General Manager/GSM at department and individual sales consultant levels.

     Monitor and manage department-controllable expense items.
     Ensure that all sales employees follow safety policies/practices and immediately report all accidents.

    COACHING AND DEVELOPMENT
     Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and manage the performance of all sales employees.
     Work with each sales consultant to establish weekly and monthly objectives regarding time utilization,
      prospecting efforts, unit sales, and projected income.
     Meet one-on-one with each sales consultant on a daily to weekly basis to review progress toward monthly
      objectives and discuss action needed and action taken.
     Conduct daily and weekly sales meetings, for purposes of communication and training.
     Provide on-the-job training and coaching for sales consultants to improve their closing ratios and HPI
      scores.
     Conduct formal performance evaluations with each sales consultant every six months to identify
      development opportunities.

    PERSONAL WORK/TIME MANAGEMENT
     Establish personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity, and devise
      strategies to meet those goals.
     Review and analyze actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better
      utilize time and plan more effectively.
     Report to the General Manager and/or GSM regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analyses.
     Continuously improve sales skills, managerial skills, business skills and product knowledge.
     Maintain Hyundai STAR training certification.
     Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Dealership’s Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions with
      customers, co-workers, lenders and vendors.
     Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety standards.

Qualification Requirements:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a
    professional manner; must be legally and technically able to safely operate Company and customer-owned
    vehicles; and must be insurable by Company insurance carrier. Working extended hours, evenings and
    weekends may be required to achieve goals.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
     High school diploma or the equivalent.
     A college degree or equivalent experience in sales, marketing or business administration is preferred.
     Two years of automotive sales experience is required.
