Diabetes in Asia Study Group (DASG)


Diabetes in Asia Study Group is a non - profit organization, formed as a
result of a meeting of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) held in
Cape town in 2006 and aimed to encourage research in the characterization
of diabetes within the regions, to promote exchange of opinions, and foster
advocacy. . Individuals with in the field of research, diabetes care and
advocacy will be eligible for membership.

This group is a continuation of the Diabetes in Asia Conferences, a
movement which was started in 1999.

                         The theme of this conference is
                        Secondary Prevention in Diabetes.

  This is an invitation for submission of papers for oral/poster
 presentations on any field of diabetes and related conditions.

Welcome to Qatar
Qatar is a peninsula located halfway down the west coast of the Arabian Gulf.
Its territory comprises a number of island including Halul, Sheraouh, Al Ashat
and others.

The total land area of Qatar is approximately 11,521 square kilometers.

The population of Qatar amount to (743000) old number!!! Please update
inhabitants. 83% of inhabitants reside in Doha and its main suburb Al

Doha is the capital city, Arabic is the official language in Qatar and English is
widely spoken.

Islam is the official religion of the country and the Shariah (Islamic Law) is a
main source of its legislations.

Qatar has a moderate desert climate with long hot summers and short mild
winters and little rain in winter.

Health sector has come a long way to provide the most advanced medical
equipments and qualified cadres as well as expand the cover of health
services all over the country through a wide network of hospitals and health
centers. Health services in Qatar are discharged through a compact link chain
from primary to intensive care and from health centers and major hospitals.

The Qatari economy is on the most world’s fastest expanding economies. Oil,
gas and upstream and downstream industries resources are the mainstay of
the Qatari economy. The economic policy of the state aims to invest the
returns of oil and gas in economically profitable projects and in establishing a
solid industrial base. It adopts new approaches in the field of economic and
trade liberalization with a view to enhance and expand foreign capital
investments and the private sector.

Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to participate in the 2nd DASG Annual Conference,
which will be held in Doha, Qatar in collaboration with the
International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Qatar Foundation at the
Sheraton Hotel, March 26-27, 2010.

We are hoping that this meeting will continue the tradition of successful
meetings relating to the field of Diabetes care and management in the
region, offering a unique opportunity to establish and further develop
regional collaboration and exchange of information.

The Conference will include scientific contributions from different parts of the
world, covering the latest information, treatment and developments in the
field of Diabetes management.
It will be of interest both to the doctors and researchers, as well as the
nurses and other health care professionals working in the field of diabetes

On behalf of the Qatar Diabetes Association which is the host of the
conference this year and as the chair of the local organizing committee for
the Diabetes in Asia Study Group (DASG) 2010 conference, I extend to you a
