JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: SIXTH FORM SUPERVISOR WITH ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
LOCATION: ASTORIA GARDENS, UPPER NEWTOWNARDS ROAD, BELFAST
REPORTS TO: School Business Manager
1. JOB PURPOSE
The School seeks to appoint a Sixth Form Supervisor who will supervise the Year 13 and 14 girls in the Sixth
Form Study Room and ensure that conditions are conducive to study. The post holder will also assist the
School Business Manager with general administrative work.

3. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Pupil Supervision
supervise senior pupils during their study periods and examinations as required and maintain a
quiet academic environment in the school study/library;
use the School’s management information system to register pupils into the Sixth Form Study
area;
maintain and advise on mechanisms to improve the study environment for the pupils;
communicate with appropriate teaching staff regarding behaviour of pupils;
inform appropriate teaching staff of absenteeism of pupils from study periods without
permission; and
ensure pupils maintain a tidy work environment and report any damage.
Administration
operate manual and/or computerised information systems in connection with pupils;
complete and submit all returns/records as required;
assist the School Business Manager with daily administrative tasks;
assist with Library duties when required;
assist as an invigilator when required;
assist with reprographics/photocopying;
assist with Careers administration;
maintain stock of reference books in sixth form studies; and
assist in school administration, as required.
Other duties
participate in any relevant training as required;
implement all school policies and procedures; and
such other duties as may be assigned within the level of the post.

4. PLANNING AND ORGANISING
The post holder is expected to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise the above activities to support the
smooth and efficient running of the School at all times referring to the Principal and / or other staff
only as required.
5. DECISION MAKING
Day-to-day operational decisions in relation to the post holder’s areas of responsibility.
Make recommendations for improvements and highlight areas of concern .
6. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
The post holder reports to the Business Manager.
The post holder is expected to develop effective relationships with other Bloomfield Collegiate School
staff, parents and pupils to ensure a co-ordinated approach to achieving the School’s aims and
objectives.

8. ENVIRONMENTAL/ PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Work station based in the Sixth Form Study Area at Bloomfield Collegiate School.
9. SPECIAL FEATURES
Hours of the post: 37 hours per week (8.30 am – 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am – 4.00
pm on Friday)
Lunch break – 30 minutes
There may be times when you will be required to work outside of these hours and time off in lieu will
be given. Flexibility during School holiday periods may be considered.
The post holder must be flexible to meet the needs of the School.
Leave allocation will be 35 days (to include statutory and General holidays) increasing to 40 days
after five years service. Holidays must be taken outside term time.
SALARY SCALE: ( £16,056 - £16,792)
The School operates the NILGOSC Superannuation Scheme.
