Meeting started at 7:15pm, Introductions were made around the room.
Minutes from the April 20th meeting were approved as read.
DOUG – TREASURER
Bank balance $1,906.00 Members – 17 families and 11 individual. No
disbursements to report.
The Insurance renewal from Sport NB through CKNB has not been received yet.
It expired March 31, 2009, Doug to follow up on renewal. A current members list
was distributed to verify personal information.
NANCY – COMMUNICATION
DENNIS – WEBMASTER
Dennis is sending everyone a link to the updated site. It is now up and functional
with a Google calendar. There is a new feature “Forum” with a user sign up, as
well as photographs. There is a file up loader for member’s pictures but Dennis
needs to be notified when something has been sent. We have unlimited space
compared to our need. Information should show up within five business days of
transfer or e-mail. He will have on-line registration next. There will be a
demonstration at the next meeting.
Dennis updated the brochure and has made transparent Logos for Car windows
which will be for sale next meeting.
Maurice pointed out the list of benefits for membership, ie use of equipment,
discounts at Scout Shop and GPS store.
The GPS store in Sussex has our Logo on their website and will be showing our
trip information also.
ERIC – EQUIPMENT
Nothing new to report. Equipment availability is on a first come first serve basis.
Wish list includes outfitting the 22’ Miramichi with 6 Paddles, 6 Life Jackets, 1st
Aid kit, Bailer, etc. Evan has loaned FPC two GPS’s.
LAURA – TRAINING (report attached)
July 31 - August 2 Maurice is leading a trip to St. Croix. There will be camping at
Scottbrook Campground (no electrical or water but there is an Outhouse) Maurice
will be providing breakfast of pancakes, sausage and bacon. You are responsible
for lunch and supper is a Pot Luck.
STEVE – TRIP COORDINATIOR – absent.
ERIC – TRIP CALENDAR – Copy attached.
Doug gave a report on the Atlantic Symposium. There were approximately 50
people attending with half being presenters. Evan was the only FPC member to
attend. The certification is changing; new requirements are on the CKNB website.
Evan Young’s father passed away, Deb to forward sympathy card from group.
Maurice spoke to Rafe, yes they do want us to volunteer again at the Dragon Boat
Festival August 29, 2009 8:00am – 5:00pm at the Renforth Wharf. We are also
required to assist during practice times.
Outreach – Nancy is to advise time and location.
Wednesday evenings Evan is teaching paddling courses to newcomers 6:30 – 8:30
$5.00 to rent a canoe for members. Let Evan know if you wish to take part.
May 11th Executive Meeting (minutes attached) a recommendation was made for a
new position of Registrar. “The executive recommends to membership that a new
position of registrar be created. The duties are as outlined as head of membership
Keeps and updates membership records (Membership Forms etc.)
Provides and maintains sign in sheet for meetings with a copy to the secretary
Gives updates at general meetings and gives a copy to the secretary.

With the addition that this position be a member of the executive. The vote was
carried as read. Chris Squire volunteered for the position.
Memberships are now overdue
50/50 draw worth $21.00, Doug Forbes won.
Eric is a member of the Kingston Peninsula Historical Society; they are looking for
a researcher for Portage routes. Anyone with information please contact Eric.
August 15th there will be a re-enactment of the portage across the Kingston
Wednesday, June 24th 6:00 is the annual Caton’s Island trip and bonfire.
Kayak courses are being subsidized this year by the FPC. Doug is to arrange.
CKNB courses for 2009 are now on their website. If anyone is interested contact
Doug. Wanda is no longer offering the Kayak course; it is being done by Jamie
Maillet. The FPC has $200.00 available to help members wishing to take the Flat-
water Kayak course with the funds being divided between the participants same as
last year. Linda made a motion seconded by Cheryl to approve the $200.00
funding for the course. Motion carried.
