Meeting Minutes 10-9-08 By Secretary Kathy Atchley The eighth meeting of the Tipps Canine Hollow Park Pals Association occurred on Thursday, October 9th, at the North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation Department. In attendance were Terri Mace, Benny Rasberry, Debbie Kerwin, Jennifer Kerwin, Andrea Kerwin, Gina Devine, Danielle Wieger, Dawn Cook, David Leonard, Beth Polak, Kathy Atchley and Nancy Higgins. The majority of the meeting was spent discussing t-shirts, which the city requests all members wear at any event in which the park is represented. Vice President Beth Polak had done considerable research and discovered a local shop on Rufe Snow Drive called Copy, Ship & Design HQ, which agreed to make the shirts at a very reasonable cost: $5 for short-sleeve tees, $8 for long-sleeve tees, as well as polos, sweatshirts and hoodies at higher prices. The group voted to place an initial order for personal shirts to confirm the quality, colors, etc. Beth, Kathy and Terri will meet at the shop Friday to place this order. Treasurer David Leonard said the association has business checks now, so we can place and pay for an order of shirts to resell at events, after we receive our personal shirts. David will also put our new PayPal account info on the web site so it can be used. He proposes a discussion of the bylaws for the next meeting and will come prepared for that. The association has decided to participate as a vendor in a Chihuahua adoption event called Chiesta, to be held at Bear Creek Park in Keller on Saturday, October 25. A signup sheet was passed around to secure volunteers for various time slots on that day. Keri Hodges, Event Chair, is the organizer of this participation. Keri and Event Co-Chair Andrea Kerwin had also proposed participation in the city’s “Night of Holiday Magic” festivities in December; however, lack of time to plan specifics and volunteers to help has made that impossible. Andrea suggested instead we come up with a date in December, approved by Sharon Davis, in which we can do our own small holiday event in the dog park, possibly selling raffle tickets, shirts and bandannas, soliciting donations, giving out dog biscuits, etc. Further discussion will continue at the next meeting. Also at the next meeting, Beth will have the first order of t-shirts so that we can set up a schedule to sit at a table in the park and solicit charitable donations. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 17 at 7 pm.
