SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
Website and social media:
Developing the organisation’s presence on social media networking sites such as
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
Promoting PCRC events on social networking sites.
Writing copy for the PCRC website; www.prostate-cancer-research.org.uk including
weekly blog entry and case studies.
Research: including reporting on what other charities are doing in term of using
social media and sourcing case studies.
Monitoring visitors’ statistics for the PCRC website.
Media and PR:
Copywriting (articles and press releases).
Liaising with journalists and editors.
Liaising with the Events Manager and Fundraising Director on identifying and
developing PR and media opportunities.
Liaising with celebrities and their agents and building celebrity databases.
Distributing press clippings internally.
Good oral and written communications skills.
Ability to work to deadlines and able to cope with a varied workload.
Knowledge of and interest in social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube,
Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
Can commit to the internship for a minimum of 8 weeks and the equivalent of 3
days/21 hours a week (although when these hours are worked is flexible).
This opportunity is suitable for someone who wants experience of working in a
communications environment and/or who wants to develop a career in the voluntary sector.
We will provide on-going training and support. Lunch (up to £5 per day) and travel expenses
(up to £10 per day) will be reimbursed.
