CHRYSLER EXECUTIVE DELIVERS KEYNOTE AT NORTHWOOD
UNIVERSITY’S 30th ANNUAL FREEDOM SEMINAR
Seminar Provides Forum For Michigan Community and Business Leaders To Explore
Current Business, Economic, and Social Issues

MIDLAND, Mich. – Northwood University (NU) will welcome Steven J. Landry, executive
vice president of North American Sales for Chrysler, LLC, as the keynote speaker at the
university’s annual Freedom Seminar held April 17-20.

Landry, along with a number of other local and national business leaders, will deliver
presentations on current business and economic topics that are at the forefront of today’s
economy.

The keynote, titled “Getting Ready for Tomorrow,” will discuss Landry’s perspective on
2007, highlighting the year’s major events and successes and will then preview Chrysler’s plans for
2008 and beyond. Landry will also discuss the process of transitioning from a public to private
company, as well as Chrysler’s “Project Genesis,” which is a strategy recently introduced by
Chrysler to align its product plan and distribution network.

“The secret today to sustaining business and growing business is, as always, to be
competitive,” said Landry. “At Chrysler, we have developed a new program called Project
Genesis, which allows us to right size the company and start building a world-class, smaller
company. I am honored that Northwood University has asked that I speak to them and share
some of Chrysler’s ideas and goals.”

As part of the Freedom Seminar, Landry and all the additional presenters will be part of
tradition that was started by NU’s founders 30 years ago. The university’s founders strongly
believed that freedom, individual responsibility, and enterprise were essential for human progress
and thus the Freedom Seminar was created to provide participants with a deeper understanding of
these values and the ways in which they can be applied to improve public policy, business, and our
personal lives.

Freedom Seminar events are intended to bring students, alumni, community and business
leaders, and distinguished scholars together for four days of lecture, discussion, and debate about
the benefits, opportunities, and challenges associated with living in a free society.

30th ANNUAL FREEDOM SEMINAR, PAGE TWO

“Freedom, Enterprise, and Community” is the theme for this year’s seminar. Participants
will explore and discuss how enterprising individuals in business, social services, education, and
government are changing their communities for the better. The Freedom Seminar organizers hope
attendees will learn how successful leaders manage and elicit the natural creativity and passion
from the people within their organizations.

“A free society channels the creative ideas and aspirations of the individual to make
dramatic improvements in business, social services, education, and public policy,” said Dale
Matcheck, professor of economics at Northwood University and co-organizer of the Freedom
Seminar. “Freedom Seminar participants can expect to be informed and inspired by them to
achieve similar success in their own personal and professional lives.”

Landry’s keynote will take place on Thursday, April 17 at 6 pm at the Detroit Athletic Club.
All other presentations from April 18-20 will be held at the Atheneum Suites Hotel in downtown
Detroit. All events are open to the public and registration can be completed by calling

of events, directions, and speakers can also be found at the same web address.
