The Orillia Rowing Club is located in a community of 30,000 located 125 km north of Toronto at the gateway to
cottage country. Located on Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, Orillia is a wonderful place to spend a summer.
Under the direction of the ORC executive, the successful candidate will administer or participate in the various
Club programs, including, but not restricted to, the following:
          Intro-to-Row program
          Spring Student Training/Rowing Program
          Recreational Rowing Program & Competitive Program
          Summer rowing skills camps
           Oversee & conduct boathouse safety & orientation sessions for all members
           Assist with student programs
           Be the instructor in-charge at all Intro-to-Row lessons
           Be the instructor in-charge at Rowing Skills Day Camps
           Manage the operation of the Boathouse
           Ensure safety of all rowers on & off the water & ensure all members follow club safety procedures &
            proper equipment handling
           Supervise Boathouse Assistants; coordinate programs with other coaches, staff and volunteers.
           Coach crews on the water
           Promote good coaching practises for rower development both on and off the water: cross training,
            physiology, nutrition, ethical behaviour, ecological awareness, safety, racing strategies
           Plan and run internal club regatta(s) in consultation with Recreational Director/s
           Oversee the condition of all equipment and ensure any concerns are directed to Equipment Director
           Encourage & engage members to crew together & participate in club activities & regattas
           Club communication: oversee & keep bulletin/white boards current & appealing; update club phone
            greetings; respond to queries of members and their family members, potential new members, other
            clubs and regatta registrars.
            Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
            Learn to Row Instructors Certification required; Level 1 & 2 technical level (RCA coach) desirable
            Boat Operators License & confidence in driving a boat
            Current First Aid and CPR certifications
            Strong leadership skills and supervisory skills
            Strong communications and organizational skills
            Unlimited enthusiasm
            Previous experience managing rowing programs
Hours of Work:
          30 - 35 hours/week; normally split shift (morning & early evening) 5 days per week (could involve
           occasional weekend work)
          May attend Student School regatta in June as part of running Spring Student rowing program, may
           attend other regattas as necessary
