PURPOSE

To establish authority, eligibility, and payment of overtime pay.

PROCEDURE

Those positions which are classified as non-exempt under the FLSA guidelines may be paid overtime pay
for all hours actually worked in excess of 40 during the regular work week (36-hours during the annual
reduced work week) or may elect to take compensatory time, as outlined below.

Overtime work must be authorized in advance and approved by the supervising administrator, and one
additional signature of a Vice President, Campus President, or College President.

Compensation for overtime work may be in time or payment and at the employee’s discretion, as follows:

       A. Compensation for overtime worked is paid at one and one-half times the employees regular
               rate of pay.

       B. Compensatory time, that is time off in lieu of payment for overtime hours, may occur
within the same pay period, but not within the same week, or at a time approved by the
supervisor and will be at a ratio of one and one-half times the number of overtime hours
               worked.

If compensatory time is granted by the supervisor at a time other than within the same pay
period, a record of the comp time balance must be maintained by the supervisor, and comp
time balances should be exhausted as soon as practicable.

Example: Employee A works 44 hours in week one. The employee may be granted six (6)
hours of "time off" in week two, or at another time as approved by the supervisor, to
               compensate for this overtime worked.

       C. An employee’s work schedule may be temporarily modified to meet departmental needs
through a flexible scheduling arrangement. Flex-time, that is time off on one day for work
performed beyond the regular work schedule of another day, may be granted within the
same work week and will be calculated at a direct one-to-one ratio.

Example: Employee B works 10 hours on Monday, when he is regularly scheduled to
work 8 hours. The employee may be granted 2 hours flex-time off within the same week.
