Department of Health Stroke Awareness Campaign
On the 9th February 2009 the Department of Health is launching a three year
national campaign to raise the awareness of stroke.

In particular the campaign will make people aware of the FAST (Face, Arm,
Speech, Time to call 999) method of spotting the signs of someone having a
stroke, and encourage them to treat it as an emergency.

Think Ahead is a Wigan based charity supporting Stroke Survivors and their
Carers, and is working jointly with Ashton, Leigh and Wigan Primary Care
Trust, the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust and Wigan
Borough Council Adult Services department on the new national government
led stroke strategy that places increased emphasis on stroke prevention,
quick recognition and treatment and improved access to services and support.

The enclosed FAST poster, produced by the Think Ahead Stroke charity, is
designed to inform and remind people of the tell-tale signs of a stroke and
encourage them to call 999 immediately when they do!

We need your help to promote FAST!

Please display this poster somewhere prominent so that it can be seen.

Many thanks for your assistance and support.
