Minutes of Meeting
Wednesday, October 12, 2005
Council members: Andrea Cook, Sue Murphy (Chair), Susan Goldsworthy, Giselle Benoit
Humber, Christina Reid, Michelle Peddle, Chris Appleby, Donna Preshyon, Lisa Inder and
Parent – Bill Sears.

Call to Order
The Annual General Meeting was called to order at 8:14 pm.
Approval of Agenda
The Agenda was approved.
Approval of Minutes
The AGM Minutes were approved during a meeting last fall by Council, and were
re-confirmed/approved at the AGM.
Welcome and Greetings
New council members – Roberta Wells (Teacher Rep.) and Lisa Inder (Parent Rep.) were
introduced and welcomed to council. Congratulations were passed along to Donna Preshyon and
Lisa Inder on being (re)elected to council as parent reps. Both parent reps are for a 3 year term.
Susan Ryan Goldsworthy presented the Income Statement for the period ending September 1,
2005. Council had revenue of $16,873.16 and expenditures totaling $16,857.01 for a bank balance
at September 1, 2005 of $16.15. A discussion was then held as to the budget for the 05/06 school
The AGM was officially adjourned at 8:25.
The regular Council meeting then continued with all parties noted above remaining in attendance.
No new business arising from Septembers minutes. Minutes were approved.
Finance Committee – The bank balance is $16.00.
School Development – Giselle Benoit Humber and Roberta Wells will act as the liaisons between
school staff and council for the school year ensuring staff are kept abreast of council news and
activities. Giselle will also update council regarding School Development Committee work. A
brief update was then provided as to the activities on the school development team.
Veggie Orders – Susan Goldsworthy advised that the veggies orders were slightly lower than last
year. Total profits from this fundraiser was $2,992.00. Total collected $7492 - $4500 total paid to
Hodge Acre farms. About 20 bags were extras or not picked up - we donated them to the
Community Food Sharing Association.
Council representatives – There were two community rep’ vacancies which were refilled by Sue
Murphy and Christina Reid for another 3 year term. Sue Murphy was appointed as Chair of
Council. Chris Appleby was appointed as Vice Chair of council and Lisa Inder was selected as
secretary for council. Christina Reid is Chair of the fundraising committee. Property Chair –
Sherry Appleby (parent) will be asked by Sue Murphy to chair of the property committee. All
other members remain in the same capacities.
Council Rules, regulations and protocol – The Council recognized the need to review the
protocol agreement in more detail. A separate meeting may be held to discuss protocol. Council is
awaiting a decision from the school board regarding if council is permitted to make changes to the
document. Andrea Cook to follow up on this matter.
Envirofest The School has been offered $1,000 for trees by NL Power. Discussions will be held
with NL Power to discuss the arrangements and some alternatives.
Paper Recycling – Michelle Peddle to address concerns raised.
Physical Education and extra-curricular activities. Andrea Cook and Michelle Peddle to
address this issue.
Professional Development days – Plans are currently ongoing with not dates confirmed as of
Spooktacular – Chris Appleby updated council on spooktacular and the plans surrounding the
Next Meeting - Council agreed that the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2005
@ 8:00 p.m. in the staff room.

Minutes from School Council’s “Christmas Card Fundraiser” meeting – October 18, 2005
In Attendance: Andrea Cook, Sue Murphy, Chris Appleby, Christina Reid, Lisa Inder.
Discussion was held regarding the fundraiser and the approach that was taken by the fundraising
committee. Christina Reid to contact Giselle Benoit Humber regarding the selection criteria and
process for the cards. Teachers will be informed by Giselle Benoit Humber as to how the project
would work and the parameters children should use when submitting their art work. Approval was
given to the committee to proceed with the fundraiser.
