Call for Presenters:
The Planning Committee for the TERROS 6th Annual Cesar Chavez Behavioral
Health Conference invites you and your colleagues to submit a proposal for one
of our concurrent sessions.
Presentation Format:
We are seeking proposals for concurrent sessions to be presented on Friday
March 26, 2010 at the address noted above. A concurrent session is usually 90
– 120 minutes, which includes time for questions and answers. Due to the
timeframe, applicants are encouraged to narrowly define their presentation to
provide more depth on the proposed topic.
Criteria for Abstract Selection:
Presentations build the knowledge or practices with ethnic and minority
populations of the southwest and when possible, promote the use and adoption
of evidence-based and/or best practices in substance abuse treatment or issues
regarding behavioral health disparities:
Literature reviews on specific behavioral health disparities by disability
(Drug, ETOH, HIV, Mental Health) and/or population
Descriptive research on the utilization of concepts or practices with ethnic
and minority populations
Review of outcome data from intervention with persons in recovery
Cultural specific practice with ethnic and or other minority populations
Adaptation of best practices targeting ethnic and or other minority
populations
Audience Profile:
Your presentation will be before a group of treatment professionals and policy
makers working at all levels of their organizations. Participants who turned in
their evaluations at last year’s conference were primarily women (72%), had a
bachelors or masters degree (57% with masters); and were primarily Anglo
(56%) and 52% were licensed professionals.
Presenters Agreement:
By submitting a proposal I/we understand that all selected presenters and co-
presenters:
Must complete a registration form. All Conference sessions or events
are open free of charge to the presenters.
Will receive a nominal stipend depending on the level of funding not to
exceed $300.00.
Are responsible for submitting materials on disk or e-mailed in
Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint to TCCPC no later than
March 3, 2010 1, 2009
Are responsible for providing handouts in sufficient quantity for
sessions if not received by CABHP by date noted in previous section.
Guidelines for Submission:
1. If you have not received a Presenter’s Application, request one from
Manuel Medina or Jennifer Vanus at manuelm@terros.org or
jenniferv@terros.org
2. After completing the form, either e-mail as an attachment, or print and
mail to the address listed below. All applications must be received
by February 1, 2010 and must be completed in full for application to
be considered. There is no limit to the number of abstracts that can be
submitted from a particular individual or agency.
3. Presenters will be notified of proposal status by March 1, 2010.
