                                                                                           Sparky Lyle has been the only manager in Somerset Patriots franchise
                                                                                           history, accruing an all-time record of 975-849. The all-time winningest
                                                                                           manager in Atlantic League. Lyle has been named manager of the year
                                                                                           three times (1999, 2003, 2009), scoring his 900th career win on August
                                                                                           31, 2010 (800th came July 21, 2009). Lyle was part of two New York
                                                                                           Yankees World Series championship teams (1977, 1978) and became the
                                                                                           first American League reliever to capture a Cy Young Award (1977),
                                                                                           ranking among the all-time leaders with 238 career saves. Between 1967-
                                                                                           1980, Lyle had more saves than anyone else in the AL (231). Lyle’s
                                                                                           sixteen-year career included stints for the Boston Red Sox, New York
                                                                                           Yankees, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Chicago White Sox.
