                   Centennial H.S. Names
                     Orchestra Director
LAS CRUCES – Daniel Rivera has been named director of orchestras for Centennial High
School, said Principal Michael Montoya.
       Rivera has previously taught at Americas High School, Montwood
High School and Desert View Middle School in the Socorro and Ysleta
school districts in El Paso.
       He has a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music
Education, both from the University of Texas at El Paso.

       Rivera’s string and full orchestras have received sweepstakes awards at concert and sight-
reading competitions. His programs have been selected twice in the top 10 orchestras at the
Texas Music Educators Association Honor Orchestra Competition. Recently receiving the top
Adjudicators Award and Gold Award in California competition, his group was invited to perform
in Boston as a finalist in a national music festival.
       Rivera currently performs with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and the El Paso Opera.
He has performed with the Las Cruces Symphony, Pro-Musica, Bruce Nerhing Consort and El
Paso Chorale. Rivera has performed in the finest concert halls in Germany and Turkey with the
Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra and has been a guest conductor/clinician and
adjudicator in Texas and New Mexico.
