The meeting was called to order at 7:16 p.m. by Chapter President Nicole Wells.
Meeting Location: Tony Roma’s, Carson
The regular meeting minutes from June 5, 2006 were approved as amended.
a. Newsletter/Website/Outreach Efforts:
Newsletter committee was appointed with members Stacy Clark, Katherine
Smith, Nicole Wells, and James Hampton.
Lisa Prosser indicated that the Pi Alpha Alpha website was up to date.
b. Future Event Planning:
The New Student Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, 2006.
The orientation will be conducted in SBS B-143 at 6:00 p.m. Punch and
cookies will be served at the event. Chapter President Nicole Wells will
present Pi Alpha Alpha to new incoming students in order for them to put
forth the effort to join. In addition, DPAA will also be presenting at the
orientation by Chapter President Jay, and Chapter Treasurer Glynder Striggs.
Fall Career Panel is tentatively scheduled for Thursday November 9, 2006.
Majority of the fall classes are on Thursday evenings, which to attract the
most attendance for the panel. Laurie will be contacted to reserve room.
Professor Byrne will verify with Laurie in regards to space, Hampton Hall.
Theme is “So you want to be a public servant”?
New Business/Other Business:
Continuing Education Seminar:
Two workshops are planned for this semester, waiting on response from
Professor Huntington. Update for next meeting September 11, 2006.
c. Membership Fees:
A motion was passed to increase Pi Alpha Alpha dues from $10.00 to $25.00
starting January 1, 2007.
Chapter Treasurer James Hampton encouraged Pi Alpha Alpha members to
make donations towards the scholarship fund. Professor Byrne donated
