Jimmy Williams will lead England as they take on Pakistan’s physical disabilities
squad in three 40-over matches and two Twenty20 matches at the ICC Global Cricket
Academy in Dubai during February. This will be the first international cricket series
between two teams of physically disabled players where both are recognised and
endorsed by the governing body of cricket.

Excellent news from the AGM, as members were elected to the two significant
positions which have been vacant for some time. Brian Kingham returns to the
Chairman role he relinquished in 2008, while Paul Gould was elected to the
Performance Director role, co-ordinating coaching activity across the club, a role last
held by Tony Hutter. Paul will also continue as first team captain, Mark Fletcher
becomes second team captain and Bryan Thompson takes control of the thirds.

Paul has informed the club committee that the statement in the recent League
Newsletter that he is leaving the club for Timperley is not correct, and he has re-stated
his commitment to Poynton.

A vote of thanks was proposed during the meeting to Jane Williams who steps down
after seven years as Junior Chair, to be replaced by Damien Mullany. Jane will remain
heavily involved with Poynton junior cricket and will remain on the Executive
Committee. Other officers standing down with the thanks of the committee and the
club include Pete Heath, Bill Roffey, Rick Clark, Jimmy Williams, Alex Oswell, Carol
Dawson and Matt Heathcote.

After over a decade of sterling service in the 1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd XI, Rick Burton has
decided to hang up his boots. We wish him well. Rick played several games for the 1 st
XI when the team was last in the Premier Division, and in one of these memorably
batted out the last 11 overs in a last-wicket partnership with Steve Mobley to secure a
draw. His highest innings was 56 for the 3rd XI v Congleton in 2010 and his best
bowling 5/27 for the 2nd XI v Alsager in 2005.
