FIRST ANNUAL REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF SBIOA, (CHENNAI CIRCLE),
There was a big queue of members of SBIOA Chennai Circle to donate
blood to the needy people of the society through a voluntary organisation,
being arranged under the Social Welfare activities of the Association on the
occassion of First Annual Regional Conference of Tiruchinapalli Cluster, held
on Sunday the 8th May, 2011 at Tiruchinapalli.
2. The Inaugural Session at Devar Hall commenced with flag hoisting
amidst thunderous applause, raising of slogans and bursting of crackers.
There was a payer song ‘Tamil Thai Vazthu’, followed by Eight-hour song by
the cluster choir. The guests on the dais lighted the ceremonial lamp as a
mark of inauguration of the conference.
3. Com.T.Jayaraman, Dy.Regional Secretary, Tiruchinapalli cluster
welcomed the guests, invitees and members to the conference. A cheque of
Rs. 20,000/- was handed over to Ms.Nirmala Rani, in-charge of orphanage
home, under the Social Welfare activities of the Association.
4. Com.D.Suresh Kumar, President of SBIOA - Chennai Circle, in his
presidential address, touched on the achievements of the Circle Association
during the current term of office. Com.V.Santhanam, Regional Secretary of
Trichy cluster, presented opening remarks. The cluster choir presented
another song - “HAIL SBIOA (CC)”.
5. Com.T.N.Goel, President, AISBOF, in his inaugural speech showered
praises on the Circle Association for the various Social Welfare Activities
being conducted on different occasions for the benefit of the society. He
identified himself with the part of the Circle, as his place of domicile is
‘Erode’. He spoke at length on the Scientific Compensation System,
Regulated Working Hours and 5-day week etc. He further added that the
Transfer Policy should, not only be softened for lady officers, but even soften
to others also, amidst thunderous applause.
6. Com.D.S.Rishabadas, General Secretary, SBIOA (CC Circle) in his
introductory remarks, greeted largely attended lady officers, as the day is
being 8th May, celebrated as Mother’s Day throughout the World. He also
stressed on the need of the regulated working hours, 5-day week etc., for
7. ComC.M.Bhaskaran, General Secretary of SBSU (CC) in his special
address thanked the Association for supporting the Staff Union, when they
were on agitation in the Circle. He appreciated the ‘Dream Home’ project of
the Association under the leadership of Com.Suresh Kumar, President of the
Association. He stressed the need of Unity between the Union & Association
in the Circle, for better industrial relations atmosphere in the Bank.
8. Com.G.D.Nadaf, General Secretary, AISBOF/AIBOC, in his keynote
address, dealt in length on the issues before the Banking Industry. He
appreciated the Circle Association for taking up various activities for the
benefit of the members and society at large. He expressed his happiness that,
under the leadership of the new Chairman of the Bank; BPR and other
initiatives of the Bank are under review, as most of the suggestions to review
BPR initiative are provided by our Federation. We expect that, in the interest
of the Bank and customers, some of the initiatives under BPR may be
reviewed shortly. The Federation should be taken into confidence by the
Management in its new initiatives, as we know the pulse of the members and
customers better, due to our direct contact with them, said Com.Nadaf.
9. He dealt on successful settlement of salary revision in protecting the
interest of the SBI employees and officers in the industry, due to which
Special Balancing Allowance is released in the Bank. The pension issue is
pending with the Government. There are other issues like revision of pension
to earlier retirees, regulated working hours, 5-day week etc., which shall be
taken to its logical end in due course. It is possible to achieve these demands
through unity and solidarity. He thanked RMRO’s in the Circle, who have
been absorbed on permanent rolls in the Bank, for their honouring the
leadership on the occassion. We have now taken up the issue of their
transfer/promotion policy etc., with the Bank Management. He was highly
appreciative of large attendance in the first-ever Regional Conference at
Tiruchinapalli cluster, which has provided an opportunity to its members to
air their grievances in the Business Session.
10. On the occassion, former leaders of the Tiruchinapalli module were
felicitated. Com.Jayashankar, Zonal Secretary, Tiruchinapalli proposed vote
of thanks. In the Business Session, there were lively deliberations by the
members on the various issues confronting the officers. The report of the
Regional Secretary with resolutions was adopted. The membership was
appreciative of the new initiative of the Circle Association in providing
another forum to participate and debate on the issues.
11. Comrades, it was well organised and largely attended Regional
Conference, for which we compliment entire leadership of the Tiruchinapalli
module as well the Circle Association.
