Minutes for meeting February 4, 2003
Present:
Members:
George Sigler, Calvin Barnard, Gerald Day, Jodi Anderson, Marty
Manegold, Robert Meyers, Richard Trimble, and Donna Reinke
SCC Members:
Don Schultz, Berta Lloyd, Sally Rollman, and Jerry Baker
Not Present:
Bruce Fitzgerald, Randy Hayes, Larry Crozier, Ken Grover, Cynthia
Trainer, and Catherine Jahn
Minutes:
1. Welcome and Introductions. Gerry Day called the meeting to order at 4:03 PM
and roll was taken. Gerry Day announced that Richard Trimble had joined the
committee as a representative from Central Washington University, replacing
David Bell. Gerry expressed appreciate to Dave Bell for his significant
contribution and welcomed Richard to the committee. He also welcomed all in
attendance and self-introductions followed.
2. Winter quarter 2003 - Student participation. Jerry Baker reported winter
quarter student participation in purchasing courses as follows:
i. BA 191, Sourcing and Supplier Mgt. 22
ii. BA 170, Logistics 19
iii. BA 190/191 WAOL 18
iv. BA 283, C.P.M. Review Cancelled.
3. Distance Learning Courses. Jerry Baker announced that three new online
course are being developed, they including:
a. BA 226, eProcurement (currently 284)
b. BA 192, Materials Management
c. BA 195, Contract development and management
The new classes will be offered for the first time, fall quarter 2003.
4. Online Certificate of Proficiency. Jerry Baker announced that Shoreline and
WAOL currently have all courses required for the Certificate of Proficiency in
Purchasing Management (see attachment 1) available online. Shoreline is
developing a marketing and advertising plan to communicate our online classes
to the public.
5. DACUM. Jerry Baker announced that Shoreline will host a DACUM (Develop a
Curriculum) for the purchasing program on March 6, 2003 from 12:00 noon to
about 5 PM. Jerry reviewed a list of DACUM participants and asked for
suggestions to expand the number of participants to 10 to 12 people. The

committee members discussed the DACUM’s purpose, value, and process.
Several important issues were identified by the committee and Donna Reinke
and Jerry Baker agreed to share the issues with the DACUM participants.
6. Committee Chair. Jerry Day announced his retirement from Boeing and that his
term as chair will end in June, 2003. The committee elected Robert Meyers as
the new chair for a three year term.
7. Discuss Committee membership.
Gerry Day opened discussions concerning new and replacement committee
members. The committee agreed to identify potential members and to elect 2 or
3 at the May 6, 2003 meeting.
8. Meeting schedule
The next scheduled meetings are Tuesday, Tuesday May 6, 2003, 4:00 PM
9. Adjournment:
Jerry Day thanked all members for their valuable contributions and the meeting
was adjourned at 5:10 PM.
