I just checked my on line bank statement and was surprised to see a 59.95 charge from
Spirit Airlines. After going through MANY MANY MANY loops of this call may be
monitored for training purposes, I finally reached a human being.
I was informed that the charge is for the 9.00 fare club. I went through this last year
and was told SORRY nothing can be done. If you cancel the membership you will lose
the 59.95 anyway. I told the rep. that I was told last year that I would receive an
email near the renewal date. Mr. Fantastic told me that an email went out on July
He did not care that I NEVER received it. He just kept repeating that there is nothing
he could do. After several rounds of back and forth, I finally received a 59.95 credit to
be used on any Spirit flight that I want. Oh!!!!! Did I fail to mention that the credit
must be used before the end of September this year.
I asked several times for an address to which to write. I was refused that
information.. Spirit Airlines Customer Service SUCKS...... I told the rep. why would I
want a credit for a flight on an airline that I do not plan on using.
I intend to tell everyone about the lack of concern from Spirit Airlines and in my opinion
what has been done to me is out and out theft. If that is too strong a term - it at least
constitutes shady business practices.
I called Customer Service to try to deal with this problem but to no avail. The woman just told
me, "We are in India. We cannot help you with this." I traveled on 07/20/11 on a morning flight
from DFW to FLL. I had one checked bag which I paid $33.00 for online, though it says it
should be $28.00 for domestic flights, and checked in at the counter. I came home and unpacked
and found that my iPhone 4 is missing from my purse- which I packed in my suitcase (silly me
for thinking I could trust the employees!) I tried contacting Fort Lauderdale's TSA and Spirit
Airlines Customer Service and they both gave me the run around. I wrote a complaint on
Spirit.com and called Spirit's baggage center at Fort Lauderdale airport where I spoke to Lee who
filed a claim and gave me corporates central baggage number, 954-447-7965 ext. 7004, which
sent me to voicemail. I also filed a complaint to the BBB. I left them my number and my claim
number and am awaiting a resolution. Horrible airline, I will never fly with them again. And I
will continue to hound them.
Thanks for your site!
Yes we where headed for a nice vaction untill we checked our bags. int flight one garment bag 80.00
round trip, two suitcases140.00 round trip.DON'T FLY IFYOU DO GO WITH OUT ANYTHING!!!!!!!!
I just booked a flight with spirit and was presently surprised the excellent price I got for my family of
four with a round trip ticket from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlantic City. The price was $557.00 which I jumped
on quickly, after comparing with other airlines. However, I was unaware of the additional fees spirit
charges. $100.00 each way just for baggage fees, which adds up to $757.00 now. Also, I have 2
little daughters flying with us. Wow! hit with another surprise. I cant even guarantee sitting with my
daughters without paying and extra fee for a sea assignment. This is an outrage!!!!!! Pay $757.00 and
not guaranteed to even sit with my daughters. What kind of scam is this? To make a long story short my
Spirit Air flying days are over!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok so i tried to use the on line complaint form , usless. so i was on my
way from chicago, with my wife, we were seated , the flight attendent came
to me and said (sternly)we have to move , and split u and your wife up.
i said why us, she exclaimed that if i didnt i would cause others to miss
there connecting flights, it seems they required a lady w/ a 2 years old
to buy a seat, (for the 2 yrs old) but put the 2 years old in the front
of the plane and the mom in the back, i wasnt asked to move just told to,
i paid 600.00 (450. + 150. for bags)for this flight.. thought i was
saving HA, the attendent continued to be rude . im not saying her name
but her initals are laurie, im just saying why didnt they ask for me to
move instead of telling me, how come me, why not the 9.00 dollar people.
if the employies arnt happy with the airline ...ur flight will be
miserable...this is the worst airline ever,,southwest would have been
cheaper and they sing to ya,,just sayin.
p.s. we got seated at the last row, in front of the bathrooms, the seat
would not recline.and as the seat in front of me did recline i was in sardine
can. i mentioned this to the attendent,at this point i was just making a
statement, she said there are many other airlines, and that i was free to
use them, i just looked at her astounded, she said u think this is the first
time ive heard this? they must here alot of complaints,,,

I am going to write this week to my congress people and every major media network. This
airlines should not have use of our air space and terminal spots. Our tax dollars make it
possible for them to fly. They do not know one thing about service. I tried for thrity
minutes last night to pre pay my luggage and one hour today. Their system is not working
and they send me a message to print out the page. I call them and tell them I have my lap
top and no printer with me. They tell me to be resourceful. I ask for customer Lack OF
SERVICE department. They put me on hold for twenty minutes and then I get
disconnected. I will never fly with them again after tomorrow. The only thing they stand
for is cheap seats.

Apr 4, 2008 flight NK758 was scheduled to depart Fort Lauderdale for N at 9:41AM. It was
perfect weather in Florida and there were no delays reported in NY.
At 7AM, just to be sure, I checked the Spirit website and found FLIGHT CANCELLED....no
reason....call (800) etc for futher info.
(800)....connects to Manila and the operator said the next 3 flights of the day were also
cancelled and she could book me at 8PM to get in long after everything that I had to do that
day. She said if I go to the airport, they would be able to book me on another airline, but
she could not do that.
Rush to the airport at 7:45 and find that the Spirit terminal is jammed with about 200
people looking to get rebooked....all told to stand on a long line.....WITH ONLY 1 AGENT.
Needless to say by 8:15 I realized that it would be noon before I even got to the front of the
line and then everything that was going to N would already be filled and I probably would
not get out for 2 days.
I called Jet Blue. They had a flight at 9:40 still open, so I rushed to the other end of the
airport and paid double the price I had paid Spirit plus a $10 counter fee since it was a last
minute booking and got to NY while everyone else was probably still standing on line waiting
to be abused by Spirit.
When I checked my emails later that day, I found a notification from Spirit at 10:45 AM that
my flight of 9:41 was cancelled. What did they think was the purpose of that
Did anyone think to notify me before 7AM when they actually cancelled the flight, to give
me an opportunity to make alternate arrangements??????????NO CHANCE. They *******
don't give a shit. They thought it would be a good idea for me to come to the airport and
then tell me to sit on the floor waiting for an 8:50 PM flight, that MAYBE they would book
me on, or come back the next day with another taxi fare, and F*** my prepaid hotel room
costs in NY.
THIS IT THE WORST F****** AIRLINE IN THE WORLD. There is no person that you can
call at Spirit to complain either. Their corporate phone numbers are very well hidden, but I
HERE THEY ARE.
I THINK EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM SHOULD START CALLING THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE AND
F*** THEIR PHONE SYSTEM UP GOOD.

99% of the time you get a voicemail on everyone’s line that they are away from their desk
and will call back AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. What do you think that means???????
Why is no one at their desk?
Why do these people that are never at their desk even have desks?
If you keep calling, like I did, you eventually get lucky and get a person on the phone, who
quickly shunts you off to a subordinate who does nothing and then hangs up on you.
Letters to the company are ignored. No explanations, or even courtesy replies, or
superficial apologies that we all know don't mean anything.
This is how the airline squanders money and that is why they are going broke and WE
SHOULD ALL SHOVEL THE DIRT INTO THE GRAVE as fast as possible.
Next step......I'm taking them into Small Claims Court for my alternate transport costs. If I
get lucky and get a favorable judge, they will have to pay up. F*** THEM, and in any case,
I will subpoena everyone I spoke with and have them sit on the bench in Court to testify
about our conversations.
1-21-10IN SEPTEMBER WE BOOKED TWO TICKETS TO NJ FOR A WEDDING. MY HUSBAND HAS
STAGE 5 CANCER AND IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR HIM TO GO HOME TO SEE FAMILY FOR THE LAST
TIME. IN OCTOBER THE CDC (CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL) ISSUED A WARNING FOR ALL
PEOPLE WITH COMPRIMISED IMMUNE SYSTEMS NOT TO FLY DUE TO THE H1N1 FLU
UNCERTAINTY. MY HUSBAND IS ON NEXAVAR CHEMO AND ONCOLOGIST ALSO AGREED IT WOULD
BE RISKY TO TRAVEL AT THAT TIME. I CANCELLED THE TICKETS AND WAS TOLD THERE WOULD
BE A $220.00 CANCELLATION FEE APPLIED BUT THE BALANCE WOULD BE CREDITED BACK TO
MY CREDIT CARD. OCTOBER, NOVEMEBER AND DECEMBER CAME AND WENT. I CALLED AND WAS
TOLD THE CREDIT WOULD BE COMING. NOPE, I CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BALANCE
HAD BEEN ISSUED TO A VOUCHER!! A VOUCHER! HE CANNOT FLY! THEY SAID IT'S GOOD FOR
A YEAR. I TOLD THEM HE WILL NOT BE HERE IN A YEAR AND IT IS NON TRANFERABLE
VOUCHER. TO DATE THERE IS NO RESOLUTION. PERHAPS I WILL TAKE HIS ASHES TO THE
AIRPORT AND FLY THEM TO NEW JERSEY AND BACK SO THAT WE CAN USE THEIR "VOUCHER". FLY
WITH ANYONE ELSE BUT SPIRIT. THEY SUCK. THEY HAVE NO COMPASSION. THANKS FOR THE
VENT! Carole Land email@example.com
Another Spirit gimmick and rip-off – The “free Spirit card”
Want to apply for that new credit card that Spirit Airlines is pushing so hard? Don’t do it without first
carefully reading the terms and conditions in small type hidden on their website.
They are promoting this card saying you will get 3 Free flights by obtaining the card - (probably not). When
they are promoting this card via the web, billboards, salesmen at the airport and a sign in every other row
on all there planes and in many other ways, they don’t tell you any of the pitfalls. I will list them for you.
You get 15,000 miles when you get the card and make one purchase, supposed to be enough for 3 flights
and enrollment in the $9 club, and you get a mile for every dollar spent using the card. But - what they
don’t tell you…
1) All your miles expire if you don’t put charges on the card every month.
2) The card has a renewal fee of $70 every year except the first
3) You cannot book flights off the website.
4) You cannot pick your flight off there website you must call them to book it, and they tell you
when you can go, often with departure and return flights 3 weeks or more apart making it very
difficult to use. Plan on being on the phone for a while with somebody that has a limited use of
the English language from another country. (Like trying to get telephone technical support for a
5) The flight miles only cover 3 round trip flights if you go during their “non-peak” periods. Which is
about 3 different time spans through the year that most people would not use. If you go during
any other period you still can’t pick your flight, and the miles won’t even cover one round trip
flight. You won’t get those 3 flights in a year and will get stuck with the renewal fee, and that’s
only good if you keep putting charges on it, and the interest is up there!
6) The flight is only free if you book it more than 6 months in advance and not during anytime that
is not “non-peak” So forget about the holidays, or times most people would go, like departing
and returning on weekends. But you still pay the fees and keep putting charges on the card to
7) They charge you to “redeem your miles” if it’s not 6 months in advance. So now it’s not free at
8) Your access to the $9 club starts 45 days after you get the card. Regular enrollment is instant.
9) You still pay, luggage (carry on and checked) and seat fees and you cannot
change your flight times without paying fees so high that it negates the savings on
the flight, if there are any.
10) You cannot use the miles unless it covers one whole round trip that they will give you, no using
your miles to make a flight cheaper. You can’t get a round trip unless its “non peak” and read all
the above again!
11) You cannot book a flight that is free if it’s more than 1250 miles per leg
This card is carefully designed to vacuum the money out of your pockets for fees and interest while
making it very difficult for you to benefit at all or to be able get rid of the card without losing almost
useless miles. I have one; I booked 3 flights when ever I could get them and then dumped the card
before the year was over. If I can actually use the flights when the dates come up I will, if I can’t – oh
Just put $10 purchases on it each month until you can book 3 flights before the year expires and
dump the card! , and try to use them if you can – good luck.
If they can come up with any other methods to take your money while not giving you service or
charging fees for things nobody else does they will do it. They won’t even give you tap water
anymore. I take an empty water bottle through security then fill it at an airport water fountain. Take
your own snacks and water or pay through the nose on the plane using your Spirit card!
Here’s an idea for the Spirit ceo - New idea to get more money from the passengers. If the oxygen masks
drop during a flight, make it so that the passengers have to swipe their Spirit cards to start the oxygen
flowing! $1.00 per milliliter, $2.00 non members (kids under 5 years free) ahh… on
second thought better not give them any more ideas.
