ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Attention Junior Parents:              On Tuesday, March 11, all juniors will be given the ACT at
Warren East High School. There will be no costs to the students. This test will count for college
admission, scholarship consideration, NCAA eligibility, and Kentucky Educational Excellence
Scholarship money just as any other ACT Test administration would. We ask that you encourage
your student to be well rested and to do his or her best on this very important test. Students will be
given ACT practice tests and other test preparation materials in homeroom on February 29. In
addition, students may attend ESS after school on March 4 and March 6 for additional help on the
ACT, and they may utilize http://number2.com/ for free ACT Test preparation online.

****Warren East High School has several teachers competing in the Spell-A-Bration contest

****Don’t forget to place your order for the WE fleece jacket with Mrs. Beals. The cost is
$25.00 and the order will be made at the end of February! Get your order in today. The
order will be made on Monday, March 3rd—if you want a jacket—please let me know
this week!

NEWS:
No Basketball scores were reported.

Adam Spinks placed 2nd in Social Studies in the Regional Governor’s Cup Competition on
Saturday, February 23, 2008. He will now advance to the State Governor’s Cup Competition
in Louisville in March.

GUIDANCE NEWS:

The registration deadline for the April 12, 2008 ACT is March 4, 2008. Registration
materials are available in the guidance office or students can register online at
www.actstudent.org.

Free online ACT and SAT test prep----visit http://number2.com/

Eastern Kentucky University’s Math and Science Academy-June 2-6, 2008 for students
who will be juniors or seniors in 2008-09. See Mrs. Strickler in guidance for more
information or visit http://www.msa.eku.edu/.

Seniors interested in attending the University of Louisville’s Professional Education
Preparation Program (PEPP) should see Mrs. Strickler. This is a free 5 week summer
program for students interested in attending medical or dental school. Students do not have
to be attending school at U of L in order to participate in this. Deadline 3/31/08

The deadline for completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for
the 2008-09 school year is March 15, 2008. Students can complete the FAFSA online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov. A PIN for completion of the FAFSA can be applied for at
www.pin.ed.gov.

Free AP Exam Review through the Kentucky Virtual High School-interested AP students
should see Mrs. Strickler or their AP teachers for registration information.
