Research paper guidelines
It is time to begin the research paper!!!
Hopefully, I have ignited your interest in some area of biology. I would like this research
paper to be enjoyable for you. You will have many papers to write in college, most of
which are not topics that are particularly your favorite. Please choose a topic to research
that excites you. Knowledge should be like a fire, it should keep growing but it won’t
start without a spark. So here is your chance to add a spark!
Step 1: Choose any topic- biology related of course- and have it approved by me. You
cannot have the same topic as another classmate. First come, first serve!
Due Date: Monday, November 28, 2011
10 points - participation
Step 2: Research!!
You need at least 4 sources:
No more than 2 internet sources (These must be credible)
At least 2 sources must be journal articles or books
All sources are due in class (photocopied or printed out – I want hard copies) on
Tuesday, January 3, 2012
50 points- quiz
Step 3: Outline-
3-5 pages double spaced
MLA format- including internal citations
Due Wednesday, January 18, 2012
50 points- test
Step 4: FINAL PAPER
4-6 pages double spaced.
Due Tuesday, February 21, 2012
150 points- Test
All papers will be checked for plagiarism, if found grade will be a zero!
