Applications for transfer from the masters register to the doctoral register should be supported
by a recognised independent expert assessor in the field of proposed doctoral research and
accompanied by a substantial transfer report.
Details of the transfer application process, are given in Section 2.2.6, of the Institute Code of
Practice for Research Degree Programmes.

PLEASE ENSURE ALL SECTIONS OF THIS FORM ARE COMPLETED AS FULLY AS POSSIBLE. USE
ADDITIONAL SHEETS IF NECESSARY TO EXPAND ON THE INFORMATION IN THE FORM.

    RECOMMENDATION FOR TRANSFER FROM MASTERS TO DOCTORAL
                         DEGREE REGISTER
To be completed by all External Assessors making recommendations on applications for transfer from the
Masters to the PhD register, following assessment of a transfer report submitted to them by the Institute.

This report will be submitted to the Registrar by the Academic Supervisor to support the application for transfer.

   Is it evident that there is a clear plan for the student with regard to the project going forward?

Submission of Application Form
A hard copy of the completed form should be submitted directly to the Office of the Registrar, along with
official hard copies of the supporting documentation listed in Section above.

A soft copy of the completed form should be sent by the Supervisor to:
     1. The proposed sponsoring Head of Department;
        2.      The Office of the Registrar via the following group email address

Note:
     All applications for transfer to doctoral degree programme are reviewed by the Institute Postgraduate
        Research Board prior to sign off and approval by the Institute Registrar.

        The Institute has accreditation from HETAC to approve transfer applications to PhD programmes
        in Biology and Chemistry only]. Applications to PhD programmes in all other disciplines must be
        approved by HETAC following Institute approval.
