Now that you have collected your data you will put it into an Excel file to graph the data
following these directions:

Open an Excel worksheet and enter the information from your data table into the
worksheet.

    Now you need to calculate the total number of cells. In the formula bar, enter
the information in the brackets (don’t enter the brackets):
Cell G2 = [=Sum(B2:F2)] then hit enter. The total number should equal 36
    Now you need to calculate the percent of cells in each phase. In the formula
bar, enter the information in the brackets (don’t enter the brackets): Cell B3 =
[=B2/G2]
    Click on cell B3, on the toolbar, click on format, choose cell and under the
number tab, click on percentage. This will convert the number into a
percentage. Click on “OK”.
    Repeat the last two steps for cells C3, D3, E3, F3 and G3.

Once you have finished with this step, raise your hand and have the teacher
check to make sure your numbers are correct.

Now you need to graph your data.
 Highlight the first row from cell A1 to cell F1, hold down the Apple and highlight
the third from cell A3 to cell F3.
 Click on the chart wizard (bar graph picture) and choose Pie chart. Click Next.
 Give the chart an appropriate name. Click Next.
 Place the chart in a new sheet.
 Click somewhere on the graph and the choose “Format” from the taskbar and
then “Selected data point”. Under “label contains” check percentage. Click OK.
This will display the percentage of time spent in each part of the cell cycle on the
graph.
 Print the graph and using colored pencils color the key and the appropriate
section of the graph. Make sure your graph has a clear and appropriate title, a
color coded key and that the percentage of each section is shown. [5 pts]

Turn in your colored graph and data table, along with the following
questions.
