Having Trouble in a Class?
First… talk to your teacher!!
Communication is KEY to being successful in
high school (and in life!)
Stay after school (or go before school) for extra
help (especially before tests/quizzes!)
Other resources: Parents, guidance counselor,
friends, National Honor Society tutors
ALWAYS do your homework! This is critical to
understanding the material and for ensuring
success.
Expectations
Expect homework…
Homework and reading is done in time for
class… no excuses.
Do not rely on a “make up”. If you are
struggling, you should talk to your teacher
as soon as possible.
If you are out (sick, personal), it is up to
YOU to see your teacher to make up
assignments. It is not your teacher’s
responsibility to track you down.
How you can prepare:
Come on the first day with a notebook,
writing tool, an assignment book, and your
summer reading assignments.
GET AN ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOK… you
will need it and many teachers require it.
Your teachers will tell you what materials
you need (binders, notebooks, folders). It
varies by teacher. If they require a specific
method, it is for a good reason!

You are lucky to have the right to a
public education… use it!
