							                                  APPENDIX 2:
              Description of OCLC Metadata Enhancement Services

The OCLC Service includes:
      Matching publisher metadata records against the WorldCat database

      Addition of publisher evaluative data to matching WorldCat records (annotation, author
       biography, etc.)

      Brief MARC record creation and addition of titles to WorldCat when no matching record
       exists

      Visibility in WorldCat.org and other OCLC services and tools

      Automated enhancement of publisher data using WorldCat data from exact matches and
       data in FRBR work sets

               Addition of Dewey, LC classification and LCSH to publisher record when available

               Addition of BISAC subject headings mapped from Dewey

               Addition of authority-controlled contributor names when this can be derived from
               processes based on exact match in WorldCat, or FRBR work sets

      File delivery in ONIX 2.1

      File delivery in ONIX 3.0 expected early second quarter of 2010

      Validation and reporting service against BISG Certification Standards expected second
       quarter of 2010.

      Note: All records will be processed and title data will be added to WorldCat. Not all records
       will be able to be enhanced through the automated process although backlist titles normally
       have a high hit rate in WorldCat. Hit rate can be estimated for backlist or special project
       titles prior to final determination of pricing tier, order confirmation and processing.

      Minimum of 100 titles per batch and not more than one batch per month
