Dear Parents, March 2nd, 2012
The 3 grade students are working on research for an “American Living Wax Museum” for a biography project.
Your child will be researching information that they have obtained from a book, encyclopedia, or internet
resource. Some of the components of the project will be completed at school.
Components that will be completed at school:
Web graphic organizer, timeline, portrait (All three components must be on tri board)
The components that are to be completed at home are:
The speech- A summary of his/her chosen person consisting of at least 10 sentences to be said aloud
during presentations. Students should be practicing the speech at home in preparation for presentations.
Extra credit will be given to those that memorize the speech BEFORE the day of presentations.
The costume- Students will need to create a likeness of their American hero through wardrobe. It is not
necessary to purchase any items. We have discussed in class how to create costumes with everyday
household items. Students will need to bring costumes to school on the due date listed below. Costumes
cannot be worn to school.
The Tri Board- Students will need to create a display of information regarding their American hero
biography choice. These items must include: portrait, web graphic organizer, and timeline. The portrait,
web graphic organizer, and timeline will be completed at school and sent home to assemble on their tri -
board. All components should be finished at school by March 28 . When all components are complete
the work will be sent home in a folder to be assembled on the tri-board. Students may also include any
other pertinent information or decorations they would like. This component must be completed at
home. The completed tri-board will be due on Monday, April 2 – NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!
You are invited to come and experience our Living Wax Museum on April 4 and 5 . Please see the dates below
indicating which classes will be exhibited. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you in
