Seattle or Bust!
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Giesick,
As you know, on Tuesday, April 19th Honor Band will be leaving for its annual tour, this time to
Seattle! I just wanted to write and give you some specifics about the trip.
The Honor Band kick off concert is Tuesday night, April 19th. It is held at the Lincoln Center
Auditorium in downtown Billings at 7:00pm. The kids need to be there by 5:30pm for pictures
and warm ups. We will take them on a bus into Billings so that they can be there early. We
are leaving the school at 4:25pm, picking up Fromberg, and heading in to Billings. I am
hoping that you will attend the concert (I highly encourage you to – this group is AWESOME,
and this is your chance to see what they’ve been working on all semester!), doors open at
6:30pm, with the concert starting at 7:00pm. There is a small admission charge to help us
cover the cost of renting the Lincoln Center ($4 for adults, $3 for students I believe).
After the concert, we are loading the buses and moving out to Bozeman! Therefore, Clinton
needs all of his stuff with him at the Lincoln Center. We are leaving Bridger at 4:25pm on
Tuesday, and each student needs to bring their luggage and instrument with them at that time.
Clinton should have a list of things to bring on the trip. I did want to mention however, that one
of the things is some extra money. How much is of course up to you. He will be getting about
$30.00 from the honor band fund to spend on a few of the meals (most are included, but about
two of them are “on your own”), and anything else he sees fit. However, if he wants souvenirs,
etc. he may want to have some extra cash!
Tonight at rehearsal, we will be getting a final itinerary. I will give the students copies of this
before they head home tonight. Please ask for your copy!! (each will be given 2 copies). Note
that phone numbers for major places (i.e. hotels, concert locations, and some restaurants) are
written in bold on the itinerary. If there is any reason that you need to contact Clinton, please
feel free to call these numbers!
We will be back between 10:00 and 10:30pm on Sunday, April 24th. We will be arriving in
Laurel, and students may be picked up there. PLEASE NOTE: each student does need to be
picked up – we will not be running a bus. Students may use my cell phone to call home when
we are approximately ½ hour from Laurel so that you know when to come and get them – you
may opt to carpool with other Honor Band parents!
I have also included a copy of the “Honor Band Contract” you and Clinton signed at the
beginning of the year. Please review it so that you are aware of all rules and regulations
during the trip. Thank you!
If you have any questions regarding the trip, please don’t hesitate to ask! I think that we are going to
have a really fun time, and I am so pleased to be taking Clinton and the other students on this tour.
They have been working so hard for this, and the seven of them are such a delight! This has been a
fantastic year for Honor Band, and I have to admit, I’m sorry to see it drawing to an end! We are
going to have a blast. Seattle or bust!!!!
