I would like to welcome back all of our Mason Families, and a special greeting to those families who are
entering Mason for the first time. I know in just a short time you will get acquainted with our facilities and
programs and will be able to see first hand all of the marvelous activities that the children are experience on
a daily basis.
As we start the new academic year I would like to welcome aboard our new school nurse, Mrs. Jane
Donohue, who comes to us with several years of experience working at the elementary school level. During
our Back to School evening, please don’t hesitate to stop by her office with any medical concerns or
questions, or just to introduce yourself.

We are pleased to announce the continuation of the Study Island program for grades 2-5. This program is
designed specifically to help students master the content specified in the New Jersey Core Curriculum
Content Standards. Study Island’s focus on the Content Standards enables students to improve their
performance in all skill areas tested on the NJASK. This is a web-based program and therefore, students will
be able to utilize this program not only during school time, but at home, or anywhere there is an internet
connection. During our Back-To-School Night parents who have children in grades 2-5 will learn more about
Study Island and see first hand the program’s components.
I would like to acknowledge and express my thanks and appreciation to all of the parent volunteers who
came in over the summer to assemble the Handler Folders for our students. Their energy and time has and
always will be appreciated and valued.
A reminder, that whenever a delayed opening is called, there will be a two hour delay. This means that
school will be open to receiving students starting at 10:05 a.m. with youngsters being marked late after 10:20
a.m. Dismissal will be at the usual time of 2:55 pm.
A special thank you goes out to our Home & School organization for providing all classrooms once again
this year with boxes of tissues. In addition, the anticipated welcome breakfast that they will be providing for
all staff members on September 2 I know will be greatly appreciated.
In closing let me share that the faculty joins me in welcoming all of our new students (please see Back To
School Welcome page). The Mason Staff and I look forward to working with you throughout the year in
providing an outstanding educational environment.
