   English online Paragraphs & Letters
                                       1- Reading
Reading is very important in our life. It's also the cornerstone ‫ حجر لزال يرة‬of our culture.
It plays a vital role in forming ‫ تشريل‬our characters . Reading deepens our feelings and
knowledge .It's important for all of us to acquire ‫ نيتسر‬knowledge and experience in our
life. So it's our responsibility to read the books that appeal to ‫ تناسر‬our characters. We
should read a lot in our spare time. We should go to libraries and borrow books to read.
Besides, reading newspapers makes us know a lot about the world and what is happening
around us. I think reading nowadays is available ‫ مترا / متلسر‬and easy to find through
books , newspapers, magazines and the internet. If you read a lot , you will be a civilized
person ‫. شخص متحض‬
                                  2- Mobile Phones
We must take into our consideration that this subject is a very important one to talk
about as it plays a vital role in our life and society. Mobile phones are a mixed blessing (
double edged weapon ) as it has advantages and disadvantages
Mobile phones are important when we are outside and want to tell the family something .
They enable us to communicate with others at any time from anywhere. If there is an
accident , we can call the police quickly.
On the other hand , they are extremely dangerous when we are driving . They can cause
accidents. Moreover, they are expensive to some people who are used to them. Some
people aren't in need of them but they want to show off . In my opinion I see them noisy
when some people play with their tunes especially on trains and buses . So we should use
them in time of need only.
                                 3- Disabled people
We must take into our consideration that this subject is a very important one to talk
about as it plays a vital role in our life and society. The disabled are people are deprived of
‫ محر مل مر‬our abilities .They lost parts of their bodies in accidents or in wars or those
who have some kind of disease . They should have the same rights as us . So it's our role
towards them to make them feel happiness and to help them adapt to the conditions in the
society . They should be encouraged to do what we do . They should be supplied with
suitable equipment to help them walk , travel ….and so on . As they can't work , they
should be given the money they need. We should be kind to them and don't look at them
with disgust ‫لشمئالز‬

           4- An embarrassing experience ‫موقف محير / مربك‬
There are many embarrassing situations that happen to everyone in life . I remember one
of them . One day I , my mother and my little brother were at a big shop in Maadi . we
were moving slowly looking at everything on shelves. It was very difficult to walk as the
shop was crowded . My mother selected a lot of articles and goods . We put everything in
a basket . It took us much time to reach the check out to pay. To our surprise , we found
some bars of chocolates , biscuit and sweets that we didn't choose . We discovered that
my little brother put them in the basket at the check out desk. We paid and we were
leaving when he pulled one of the boxes of the washing powder at the bottom of the pile .
Imagine what happened .

                                       5- Smoking
We must take into our consideration that this subject is a very important one to talk
about as it plays a harmful role‫ د ر ضرار‬in our life and society. Smoking is an enemy ‫عرد‬
which faces our youth and our society . It affects our health badly . Smoking causes a lot
of fatal diseases ‫ أمر ل تتاةرة‬which destroy our health . Some people think that they can
avoid their problems by smoking but this is a wrong idea as smoking is the root of all
problems. .It leads to addiction ‫ . لإلدمرا‬Besides-, they waste their money on this bad
habit.
Nowadays , we find this destructive habit ‫ عراد مردم‬among our youth as a means to
show their characters . I think they lack in guidance ‫ . ينقصهم لإلرشاد‬So it's the responsibility
of parents to advise their children and sons not to fall in this bad habit .Moreover, smoking
is banned and forbidden by our religion ‫ . ديننرا‬So , it's a must ‫ ضر ر‬to give up smoking
and if we don't smoke , we shouldn't start.

6- The role of public libraries in our life
This subject is worth talking about as it plays a vital role in our life . Public libraries
help us find information easily . They are built everywhere to provide us with knowledge
in every field . We should thank MRS Suzan Mubarak who devotes ‫ تير‬a great part of
her life to establish ‫ تؤسر‬public libraries . Every thing we need is found in these libraries
from books, newspapers , magazines, the computer and the internet. Moreover , we can
find labs ‫ , معام‬gardens and museums .
It's important to refer to the role played by the great library in Alex. Which was
reopened 2 years ago. This library is something we can't imagine as it contains every thing
we think about . If you paid a visit to it, you wouldn't imagine ‫ تتخلر‬the massive increase
‫ لزايراد لزهاللرة‬in science and technology . To sum up ‫ ملخصرا زمرا سر‬we can't live without
reading and public libraries and their role in providing us with the knowledge we need.
7- Life today is better than life in the past
"Life today is better than life in the past" is a very important topic as it shows the great
revolution in every thing . Because of science and technology , everything is easy ,
comfortable and takes n0 time to happen . life in the past was difficult. It took days to-
move from place to place . It was difficult to communicate with others . To get your
everyday needs , you would face a lot of difficulties , hardships ‫ , لزصعوبات‬and would spend
a lot of time .
Today life is easy and comfortable . we buy our needs from our homes such as tickets
, groceries and even reserving our rooms in a hotel. Our needs are covered ‫ تغطر‬with the
help of the computer and the internet. Science has found solutions to all our troubles and
found cures for our diseases. Education has developed greatly . Our homes are full of
luxuries ‫ . لزيمازلرات / سرال لزتر‬We travel by planes, trains and cars in a very short time.
Nothing can be easier.

8- How to protect our environment
  MR. Mohammed Abdel- Aal 50
     English online Paragraphs & Letters
We must take into our consideration that this subject is a very important one to talk
about as it plays a vital role in our modern society. It’s agreed that we should live in a
healthy environment. If we have a look at our environment nowadays, we can find that it’s
full of killing gases, pollution, rubbish, and noise. Look at the river Nile; it’s like our litter
basket. We throw every thing in it. We pollute it with our hands.
Cars cause air pollution as they emit dust and smog into the air. The carbon dioxide
which we release into the atmosphere causes great danger. The smoke of factories is
harmful to us. So, it’s our duty to keep our environment clean by planting trees, reducing
the amount of smoke and carbon dioxide and punishing people who pollute the
environment. We should drive our cars only when we need. We should clean our homes
and streets.
9- Youth shouldn’t depend on the government posts But they
                 should run their own Business.
As a matter of fact getting a job is very difficult nowadays. On the other hand sitting
without a job is something boring. So, What can youth do to play an essential role in their
society ? As success in life is something difficult, youth should be armed with strong
weapons such as; hard work, determination, patience and sleepless nights. The problem of
unemployment is an enemy faces youth so they should run their own business and don’t
depend on the government posts.
The energetic youth can invade the desert and reclaim it .Others can start small
projects, according to their skills such as building a shop, buying a taxi or being a partner
in business with others. Some of the youth can get money from teaching illiterate people.
The important thing is to think how to be a useful member in your society and don’t let
yourself be a prey between the hands of addiction and terrorism.

10- our spare time is a mixed Blessing.
We must put into our consideration that this subject is a very important one to talk
about as it plays a vital role in our society .Really, our spare time is a mixed blessing as it
can be destructive or constructive . If we benefit from our spare time and spend it in a
useful, proper way, it will be constructive. We can spend our time in reading, studying,
working or helping others.
On the other hand, our spare time can be destructive when we pass it in useless things
such as sitting at the café, spending all the time playing or watching TV. Our spare time
can lead to taking drugs, addiction or terrorism. It can destroy our youth. So, it is the role
of our parents to take care of their children.

11- Fancy It is the year 2050 and write about your expectations
                           about life then
I wonder what life will be like in the future. I think that life will change a lot. I think
that science will control our world. Our life will be controlled by computers .Every one
will do his work at home. The noisy and destructive cars will have been replaced by better
means of transport. I think every one will have his own plane. Pollution will have been
eliminated. Man will use the heat of the sun to produce electricity.
  MR. Mohammed Abdel- Aal 51
    English online Paragraphs & Letters
Moreover, tomorrow's world will witness a huge change in the field of medicine. a
cure for incurable diseases will have been discovered. Man will land on other planets such
as Mars. Better means of education will have been used. There will be a great advance in
the field of Industry. On the other hand I think that Fearful weapons such as the atomic
bombs and the hydrogen bombs can destroy complete continents.

12- The recent changes that have taken place in Egypt
We must take into our consideration that this subject is a very important one to talk
about as it plays a vital role in our modern society. Egypt has seen a lot of changes and
improvements during the last few years. The whole infrastructure of the country is being
reconstructed . Vast areas of land in the desert such as, Toshka project and Shark El-tafrea
have been reclaimed.
New roads, bridges, tunnels and the underground are made to make transport easy.
Moreover a lot of houses are built for the youth . Electric , gas, and telephone lines are
renewed. Besides, Egypt has launched Nile Sat 101 and 102 . The cultural revolution is
sweeping the country. I hope to see Egypt more advanced

                               13-- Modern inventions
As a matter of fact this subject is a very important one to talk about as modern
inventions play a vital role in everyone’s life. Modern inventions make our life more
comfortable than before. Work at factories is done accurately and quickly with the help of
modern machines. Thanks to modern means of communication ,such as; the internet,
artificial satellites, telephones and fax machines, the world is like a small village.
We can travel to anyplace by planes in a very short time. Space ships and rockets
enable us to explore the unknown places. The T.V is one of the inventions that gives us
sports, educational programmes , health programmes, events and entertainment. ‘The
washing machine helps housewives do better and easier wash. Modern inventions help
man to extend the power of his mind. I can't imagine the world without inventions.
                                14- Health or Wealth
Health is the most precious thing in life. It is the crown of happiness. One cannot
exchange health for all the money in the world because health is the most valuable gift
from Allah. In fact, a sick person leads a miserable life full of pain, weakness and
suffering. He loses his appetite for food and becomes weak and inactive. Moreover, a sick
person feels that he is a real trouble to his family. If person is deprived of the blessing of
health, he loses the nice taste of life. As a result. life becomes meaningless and boring.
One can enjoy good health if he practises suitable exercises, learns some interesting
hobbies, gets enough sleep and eats nourishing food. He should do his best to keep himself
away from tension,, which badly affects his nervous system All doctors confirm that
smoking is man’s fatal enemy. Try to give it up if you are smoker and avoid it if you are
not.
15- Cars are no longer enjoyable
With the development of modern civilization, life has become more complicated
Owning a car is no longer a luxury. On the contrary, it is looked upon as a necessity. one
  MR. Mohammed Abdel- Aal 52
   English online Paragraphs & Letters
cannot do without it. In fact, many people cannot move from one place to another without
a private car. Public transport has become a source of trouble to most people You can
hardly find a place on a public bus or even in trains.
But unfortunately, owning a car is no longer enjoyable as it was in the past. It becomes
a source of nuisance to their owners. Keeping a car in good condition is a real problem. On
the other hand, buying expensive spare parts costs much money There is also the problem
of crowded parking areas. You are obliged to leave your car in the open air exposing it to
robbery or decay. There is also the problem of traffic jam in crowded streets with hundreds
of cars racing around you like acrobats.

                                    16- Smoking
Smoking is one of the main causes of cancer. Smokers have a higher death rate from
heart attacks. Smoking affects the heart and blood vessels. Also, it damages the lungs. If
you smoke, you are likely to die of a heart attack Doctors assure that smoking makes the
heart beat faster and increases blood pressure. It also reduces the amount of oxygen in the
blood. Remember always that your fatal enemy is smoking. Avoid it if you are not a
smoker and give it up at once if you are in the habit of smoking.
Cigarette advertising, in my view, should be banned from radios, cinemas and
newspapers. The government should pass strict laws against those who smoke in public
places such as cinemas, buses, trains and planes. On the other hand, cigarettes should not
be sold to teenagers less than eighteen years old. Lectures by experts should be given in
schools and universities to emphasize the dangers of
smoking.
                                      17- Sports
Most people are interested in sports. Actually, sports are of great value especially for
those who work with their brains most of the day. Sports make our bodies strong and
healthy. In football games, sports teach the players the merits of cooperation through the
spirit of the teamwork .Running and walking activates your circulatory system and makes
you enjoy your life. Playing tennis and shooting give you valuable practice in making
eyes, brain and muscles work together in harmony ‫.تناس‬
Moreover, sports teach you patience, obedience and love of others. A sportsman
should own the merit ‫ تضرللة‬of something called ‘sporting spirit’. Sporting spirit is the
ability to endure ‫ , يتحمر‬hardships without losing your nerves. It is the ability to smile in
time of hard knocks, to win without boasting and to lose without complaining. A
sportsman forgets himself in his loyalty to his team. He refuses to be disheartened ‫مث ط لزهمة‬
‫ لزعايمة‬when the game is going against him and accepts his defeat.
                                       18- Water
No body can deny the fact that water is the main source of life. Without water, life on
earth would have come to an end. Man, animals and plants would have died. In fact, water
is the main factor in the development of countries both in agriculture, industry and all
aspects of life. Man can get water from rain, rivers, wells, seas and lakes. To increase the
supply of water, reservoirs and dams have been built to store water for the time of need.
As the consumption of water is increasing so rapidly, the world may face a shortage in the
quantity of water in the near future.
  MR. Mohammed Abdel- Aal 53
   English online Paragraphs & Letters
To solve this serious problem, the world should economize the consumption of water
especially in agriculture, industry and also in domestic use. In my view, another solution is
to have the water recycled to avoid wasting it. More dams and reservoirs should be built.
We can obtain water also by desalinating ‫ تحللرة‬water from seas. Although this is an
expensive method, but we can rely on it if necessary.

                              19- Accidents at Home
An accident is something undesirable and unpleasant that happens unexpectedly.
Unfortunately, accidents suddenly happen to anyone anywhere at any time. They may
occur while walking in the street, running in the club, driving and flying or even inside
your house. in fact, there is much danger at home as well as in the street. Using gas or oil
heaters in unventilated ‫ غلر جلرد لزتهويرة‬rooms, for example, may expose the sleepers to the
danger of suffocation ‫ لالختناق‬In the kitchen, the cooker may be a source of danger.
A careless housewife may expose herself and her family to the danger of fire if she
does not turn off the cooker at the right time. Keeping the medicine within the reach of
children is another possible danger. Storing paint, bleach or soap powders under the sink
‫لزحرو‬may encourage children to use them thinking that they are soft drinks. That is why
enough precautions should be taken to avoid the possibility of accidents. At last, we
should always remember the proverb which says
 "Prevention is better than cure".
                                       20- Money
We must take into our consideration that this subject is a very important one to talk
about as it plays a vital role in our modern society In my opinion, a wealthy person can
easily realize all his ambitions. He can get all what he needs, travel wherever he likes and
enjoys his life to the utmost. Money makes a rich man own a luxurious car or even a
helicopter. He can live in a big house or even a palace. He can eat the best food at the most
costly restaurants.
In spite of all these merits, some people think that the love of money is the root of all
evil. They believe that money is a good servant but a bad master. When it controls the
lives of people, it becomes a curse. Some people consider money as an end in itself and
follow dishonest ways to achieve their goals. They may lie, cheat, steal, gamble or even kill
each other in order to become wealthy. Thus, their ambitions to collect money turn against
them and push their life down towards a tragic end.
21- The problem of over population
In fact, Egypt has been facing the problem of over - population for the past fifty years.
More than one million babies are born every year. These babies consume most of our
national income. They need more food, more shelter, clothing, medical care and education.
If this problem continues, we will face a real threat to our life. The government would fail
to render adequate services to all citizens. The individual income would decrease. This
leads to unemployment, which results into unrest, crime and violence. Solving this
problem needs more efforts on the part of the government and more sacrifices on the part
of the individuals.

 MR. Mohammed Abdel- Aal 54
   English online Paragraphs & Letters
In the first place, family planning and using birth control means should be
encouraged. All citizens should know that a small family means a happy and healthy
society. On the other hand, agricultural and industrial production should be increased to
keep up with the population increase. Reclaiming the desert on both sides of the Nile is
also another possible solution. If we don’t exert all efforts to solve this problem, our
society will suffer much.

                                  22- Computers
Computers play a vital role in the world of modern technology. They render many
services to man. People can use computers in a wide variety of ways. They can answer
telephones, fax messages, record all kinds of information, answer letters and can easily
perform the most complicated calculations in a few seconds. The only requirement is that
the computer must be correctly programmed. Computers have so many everyday uses that
the business world would stop without them. They can reserve airplane tickets, keep bank
accounts, order goods, and rent cars. Computers help the police fight crimes and arrest
criminals. In the world of medicine, computers are very useful. They are used in hospitals
in making records of patients and fixing appointments with them. With the help of
computers doctors can trace diseases and fight them.
Computers aid every level of education from simple programmes that teach simple
additions to complicated data. Educators use computers to set examinations and prepare
notes. By using computers, people save large amounts of time. Whether people realize it
or not, computers control so many parts of our life in all fields, especially in
communication, transportation, agriculture and education. Thus, the skills of using
computers should be a major part of learning in all schools and universities. In spite of all
these merits, a few people still think that computers are evil machines that waste our time
and corrupt our youth. young people learn violence and crime. They sit for long hours
attracted by its magic. This may damage their eyes. But still in my view, the world of
computer is the peak of technology, which has become indispensable in our modem life.
We have to accept it but only under certain supervision

23- How to improve our schools
Schools are not only places for learning different subjects, but also for acquiring good
manners and correct behaviour. In my view, a modern school should consist of healthy and
well-ventilated rooms. In the classroom, the number of learners should not exceed thirty
pupils. This gives teachers better chances to have direct relationships with their students.
Teachers should be aware of their students problems and try to solve them. They should
act not only as teachers but as friends and guides as well. A modern school should have a
big library full of up to date books, dictionaries, magazines and newspapers. Certain hours
should be devoted to free reading. Students should be encouraged to read about different
subjects and to discuss them with their classmates and teachers.
In a modern school, there should be a spacious playground . Games and sports
should be well cared for. Moreover, modern schools should be equipped with computers to
keep pace with modern technology. All pupils should master the skills of using computers.
A modern school should have all possible facilities, which make the school day useful and

enjoyable at all times. Social activities such as contests, competitions, lectures, visits to
historic places, excursions ... etc should be available through the school year. Teachers
should consider the mentality of their pupils and develop it. The materials taught to them
should cope with their age and minds. Schools should not close its gates in summer.
Youngsters should be given the opportunity to know each other better. They should
practise their favourite hobbies in a quiet atmosphere away from books and examinations

                                     24- Tourism
Millions of tourists come to visit Egypt every year. They add a lot of money to the
income of our country. Tourists usually spend money on flights, hotels, clubs, museums,
restaurants, transport ... etc. In fact, they spend millions of hard currency which, provide
jobs for the unemployed youth. Naturally, this improves our national economy and realizes
welfare to our people. Tourists come to Egypt for different reasons. First of all, they come
for sightseeing. They like to see the pyramids and the sphinx in Giza, the River Nile in
Cairo, the ancient temples in Luxor and the High Dam in Aswan. There are lots more to
see and enjoy in Egypt. On the other hand, some tourists come to Egypt to seek
information about the past and the present of our country.
Therefore, We should prove to them that we are peace lovers, clever, honest and
civilized people. Tourists enjoy their stay in fine and luxurious hotels at reasonable prices.
They can go to the sandy beaches in Alexandria and the Red Sea resorts. They
can enjoy swimming, diving or fishing at the most beautiful places in the world. Tourists
should be encouraged to come again and again to our country. This can be realized by our
loving welcome and our willingness to help them by all means. The government, on the
other hand, should exert all efforts to attract as many tourists as possible to come to our
country. This can be done by setting up modern hotels and offering nice accommodations
at reasonable prices. The government should also supply tourists with all facilities to make
their stay encouraging and enjoyable.

                                25- The River Nile
It is universally acknowledged t at Egypt is the gift of the Nile. No doubt, it is the
source of our life. In fact, that is true because without this gift Egypt would be a barrer
desert. The River Nile is the longest river in the world. It provides people with fresh water,
which is essential for drinking, washing, agriculture and industry purposes. Agriculture
depends on irrigation. Without water, farmers wouldn’t be able to grow rice, wheat,
maize ‫ , ذر‬fruits, vegetables... etc. The River provides us also with fish, which adds to the
food wealth of the country. On the other hand, the High Dam in Aswan is the main factor
for generating electricity, which is necessary to push forward the wheels of industry. The
River is also a good means of transportation and sports. Ferryboats and cargo ships carry
people and goods from place to place.
keeping our Nile clean is the responsibility of every Egyptian who cares for a clean
and healthy life. Dumping rubbish and throwing factory waste in the river should be
stopped completely. When we look at the continuing flow of the river, we should
remember our ancient and glorious history and work hard to keep the power of this glory

forever. In my opinion, the government should set up a new ministry and call it the
Ministry of the Nile to look after the river and grant It every respect, care and attention.
                                        26- Youth
Youth are the backbone of civilized nations. They render fruitful services in all fields
for the welfare of their society. While learning in schools and universities, the young man
should study hard. He should concentrate on learning. After graduation, he should be
ready to serve his country and do his best to become an active and honest member in his
society under the supervision and guidance of the grown-ups.
A teacher, for example, helps youngsters to pass their examinations and finish their
studies. A doctor works in hospitals to relieve the pains of his patients. An engineer works
in the field of planning and construction. Young economists, pharmacists geologists and
all specialists in various fields should participate in the building of a
prosperous society. In short, every young man must work hard each in his own
specialization.
On the other hand, the government should do its best to look after its young
generation. Firstly, education should be free for all young people, especially for the
distinguished ones. Secondly, it is the duty of the government to protect them against
deviation. This can be realized by opening more clubs and giving lectures to enlighten
them. Above all, the government should give them the right to participate in the decision-
making of the policy of their country. Without this participation, the society becomes
static and there will be no hopes for the better. Fourthly, the government should distribute
parts of the barren land in the desert among young men to be cultivated in an attempt to
solve the problem of unemployment. Our government is already encouraging young men
to start their own small projects by lending then money and offering them guidance and
advice. In return, the youngsters should know their duties well. They should be
enthusiastic, energetic and honest workers. Above all, they should be loyal to their
country.

Dear Mohammed
I did very badly in my last English test because I didn't know enough
words and phrases. My parents were very disappointed. The problem
is I'm terrible at learning and remembering vocabulary. Do you have
any suggestions? I hope you can help me.
  Best wishes
     Mazen
