Argentina international signs three-year deal to become third signing of the summer

West B romwich Albion have completed the signing of Argentina internatinal Claudio Y acob on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal after leaving Argentine P rimera Division side Racing Club de
Avellaneda at the end of last season.

Y acob, who has been training with the B aggies over the summer, has passed a medical although the deal remains subject to
international clearance.

"I'm delighted to welcome Claudio to the club," new West B rom manager S teve Clarke told the club's official website.

"He is an Argentina international with a real desire to prove himself in the P remier League and it's great to have him on

"Claudio's got different qualities to the other midfielders we've got at the club and he should complement the squad very well.

"It will take him a little bit of time to adjust to the demands of the E nglish game and he's also got to learn our language,
but we hope to have him up and running for the start of the season."

The holding midfielder joined Racing in 2006 and captained the side since 2008.

He has won two international caps for Argentina and scored on his last appearance for his country, against E cuador in
April 2011.

Y acob has also represented Argentina at Under-20 level and was part of the side that won the FIFA World Y outh
Championships in Canada in 2007.

"I'm really pleased we've been able to recruit a player of Claudio's calibre," added West B rom's sporting and technical
director Dan Ashworth.

"He's been a one-club man in Argentina up to now, having broken into Racing's first team at 17 and being appointed as their
captain while still in his teens.

"To achieve that at Argentina's third or fourth biggest club, and then break into the national team with the wealth of talent
his country have to choose from, is no mean feat.

"Claudio joins us with a great CV and is a terrific passer of the ball. He's a holding central midfielder who sits in front of the
back four and controls the play.

"Claudio's also good at breaking things up. I believe he will be a great asset for us."

Y acob is the third West B rom arrival of the summer so far, following the signing of goalkeeper B en Foster and on-loan
winger Y assine E l Ghanassy.
