Xi’an National High-Technology Industrial Development Zone representative
opens International IC-China Conference & Exhibition today
Leading companies showcasing latest technology include Actel, Altium, Analog Devices,
Linear Technology, Micrel, Texas Instruments and TriQuint Semiconductor

XI’AN, CHINA, March 2, 2009 – Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL) announced the opening of
the 14th International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China, http://www.english.iic- at the Xian Greenland PICO International Convention and Exhibition Center. The
event runs through March 3.

The inaugural IIC-China in Xi’an is endorsed by the Xi’an National High-Technology Industrial
Development Zone. Xi’an National High-Technology Industrial Development Zone is largely
responsible for electronics industry growth in the region and is one of China’s five key science and
technology parks.

Zhao Jing, Deputy Director of the Zone’s management committee, opened the show with a
keynote address titled “Booming development of Xian’s IC industry”.

Top technology companies to profit from China’s fourth largest electronics market
Top international and local technology companies exhibiting at IIC-China’s Xi’an event include
Linear Technology, Micrel, Richardson Electronics Trading (Shanghai), Shenzhen Secom

Telecom, Texas Instruments, Torex Semiconductor Device (Shanghai), TriQuint Semiconductor
and Uni-Trend Electronic (Shanghai).

“Xi’an is China’s fourth largest electronics market and is critical to the future of China’s design
and manufacturing,” said Mark A. Saunderson, President of Global Sources’ Electronics Business
Unit. “It is already a recognized center for China’s military research and development, and a
growing base for manufacturers focused on the consumer and communications spaces.

“IIC-China provides exhibiting companies with the opportunity to network with representatives
from 10 of China's top-100 electronic OEM companies, 30 Fortune 500 companies plus thousands
of manufacturing companies based in the Yanliang National Aviation Hi-tech Industrial Base, the
National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base, and Xianyang and Baoji.”

Leading semiconductor companies to present at Summit Program, Vendor Seminars
Top semiconductor companies including Actel, Altium, Analog Devices, TriQuint and Spansion
are scheduled to discuss the latest technology available for embedded systems, power
management, digital consumer electronics and wireless communications at the IIC-China Summit,
Power Electronics Summit and Vendor Seminars.

“The educational conferences at IIC-China aim to inspire Xi’an’s engineers for the first time this
March, providing them with the technology and methodology required to create next-generation
electronics design,” said Saunderson. “This is the forum where local engineers get to exchange
their ideas with one another and meet with technology experts from around the world.”

Xi’an to host Components Zone, China’s largest component sourcing event
IIC-China expands its Components Zone to Xi’an, where component manufacturers showcase the
latest passive and electromechanical technologies.

“Quality is an increasingly crucial part of the manufacturing story, especially as buyers of finished
electronics goods are forced to compete through differentiation. The Components Zone at IIC-
China supports the procurement function and provides manufacturers with direct access to
suppliers of quality components, thus improving supply chain efficiencies,” Saunderson said.

IIC-China is scheduled to run in Xi’an through tomorrow before moving on to Beijing’s China
World Trade Center on March 5-6, then to Shanghai Mart on March 9-10. More information on
the conference and exhibition is available at .
