Dear Football Parents,
On the back please find the 2012 Charger Football Calendar. It has listed all the scheduled dates for morning
runs, camps, equipment issue and the start of practice.
The policy for participating on the varsity and junior varsity level has been and will be in the future that if a
player misses practice for a family vacation he may not be illegible to play. I realize that August is still part of
summer vacation for school however once practice begins the player is expected to be at practice. There have
been special situations that have resulted in exceptions to this policy; for example one player’s sister was
given a family trip to Scotland from the Make a Wish Foundation and that player was given an exception.
For those players observing Ramadan the expectation is that they attend practice and participate in what they
feel they can do. Our athletic trainers do their best to monitor all Ramadan participants that they are made
aware of and attempt to make sure the players do not do too much. In recognition of Eid al-Fitr holiday, those
players participating in the celebration are excused for that day if they choose to miss practice.
New this year is the offseason practice policy. We are permitted 12 practices in the winter and spring season
each and an additional 7 practices during the summer for a total of 31 days. Currently we have 4 scheduled
days: July 9 – 12, 2012. That leaves us with some days to work with that are still to be determined at this time.
In addition to practice days we have dead periods in which we cannot do anything as a team including lifting
and running. February 20 – 29, 2012 and July 1 – 8, 2012 are the dead periods for this year.
The offseason policy also affects players’ physicals. All players must have a physical on file in order to
participate in offseason workouts. To participate in summer workouts they must have a physical that is dated
after May 1, 2012. If they fail to have the new physical by July 1, 2012 they will not be able to participate until
they get one. We strongly encourage all players to take advantage of the school physical night in June so that
this is not a problem. The cost of the physical is $50.00 and is free for those who qualify for free and reduced
The financial obligations for junior varsity parents will be $90.00 for the required spirit pack and then $100.00
for the Fairfax County Athletic Fee (This is a county not a school fee) for a total of $190.00. If you are a varsity
parent your financial obligations are $90.00 for the required spirit pack, $150.00 for the team meals, and
$60.00 for the homecoming jersey and then $100.00 for the Fairfax County Athletic Fee for a total of $400.00.
Those calculations do not include any optional spirit pack items you choose to purchase.
Thank you for the support and sacrifices that allows your child to participate in Chantilly football. It is our
goal to maximize our talent and achieve success both on and off the field.
