Network Solutions Teams With Yahoo! For Yahoo! Domains
Domain Services Extend to New Markets
HERNDON, VA -- May 12, 2000 -- Network Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSOL), a leading provider of Internet
registration services, has teamed up with Yahoo! Inc. (NADAQ: YHOO), a leading global Internet communications,
commerce and media company serving 145 million consumers worldwide, to enable quick and easy domain
registration through Yahoo!® Domains (http://domains.yahoo.com), a new service where people can search for,
register and host their own .com, .net or .org domain names. Yahoo! Domains offers multi-year registrations -- up to
10 years - and domain names up to 67 characters in length for users to establish and build their identity online.
"Yahoo!'s global brand recognition will help to continue to expand and stimulate the marketplace for domain name
registrations," said Doug Wolford, senior vice president and general manager of NSI's Registrar. "To support that
stimulated demand, we will put our eight years of experience, infrastructure, and service to help Yahoo! Domains
reach new consumers and service existing ones in creating and building their Web presence."
Network Solutions and Yahoo! already have an extensive, global agreement for promotion of Network Solutions
throughout many of Yahoo!'s geographically-based world and domestic properties, including Yahoo! GeoCities
(http://geocities.yahoo.com) and Yahoo! Broadcast (http://broadcast.yahoo.com). Yahoo! also includes a link to NSI's
dot com directory™ on keyword search result pages. Network Solutions first signed an advertising and marketing
agreement with Yahoo! in December 1998.
The Yahoo! Domains registration process caters to businesses and consumers at varying levels of expertise and
serves a variety of needs. For example, beginners can use the Yahoo! Domains "Wizard" to easily create a simple
business card Web page and use personalized e-mail addresses with their registered domain. More experienced
users, such as Webmasters, have the ability to forward their additional domains and sites to a single Web site.
Advanced users can take advantage of the "Domain Management Tool," which offers the ability to manage their own
DNS (A records, MX records and CNAME records).
"Network Solutions' years of experience and expertise in domain name registration services will help enable us to
best meet our users needs in setting up a Web presence," said Rich Rygg, senior director, Business Services, Yahoo!
