   REMINDER – NO VALENTINE DELIVERIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT EAST FORSYTH FOR STUDENTS OR STAFF! No
          flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, etc… at any time, on any day ! Feb. 14 th is an instructional school day!

       Week of Feb. 13-17 Rachel’s Challenge “Spirit of Kindness” week
MONDAY – Wear pink or green or your RC shirt. Pink or green hair is strongly encouraged!

TUESDAY – Give a nice note to someone with candy attached. Think of someone to whom you’d like to say a kind word!

WEDNESDAY – Love your bus driver day! Give them a pat on the back, a kind word, or a note with a treat attached!

THURSDAY – Banner Day! A banner will be posted in the cafeteria where you can write a kind word, a random act of kindness, or a thank
you to someone who has been there for you!

FRIDAY _ Be Kind Day! Make a real effort to smile at a stranger, open the door for someone, pick up trash laying around … simply be
compassionate to those around you!


Monday, Feb. 13
Leading Ladies will meet in Room 305 at 3:45pm. Everyone should plan to attend. Follow up meeting on Tuesday morning at
8:30am.
Winter Guard will practice from 4:00-6:30pm. Meet in the bandroom.
Publicity Date Auction committee will meet in the auditorium right after school.
Tuesday, Feb. 14
FCCLA will meet in Room 709 at 3:45pm. We will bake cookies for Bus Driver Appreciation Week.
Sophomore Deans will meet at 3:50pm in Room 1103. Plan on staying 30 minutes.
French Club will meet in Room 1101 right after school to watch Ratatouille. Bring a drink or snack to share. If you wish to
watch all of the movie, you will need to have a ride around 5:20-5:30, otherwise stay as long as you are able!
Social Studies Academic Team will practice in Room 606 right after school.
Key Club will meet in Room 406 right after school to discuss scholarship opportunities.
Wednesday, Feb. 15
Leo Club will have a MANDATORY meeting right after school in Pod 26. You MUST be in attendance! Please see Mrs.
Cornatzer if you are unable to attend.
SAVE will meet at 3:45pm in Room 709. KCK members also need to be present at this meeting.
German Club will meet right after school in Room 1106.
Thursday, Feb. 16
Junior Deans will meet at 3:45pm in Room 1111.
Senior Girls Club will meet right after school in Room 301.

Guidance
Attention Seniors:
• Scholarship Newsletter # 8 is now available! Students may pick up a copy in English class, in Guidance, or on the East
    Forsyth website. Apply for all scholarships appropriate for you.
• Remember to sign the book when getting a scholarship application.
• Notify Mrs. Neugent or Mrs. Belo when you have been accepted into the college in which you will attend. We want
    to put your name on the Senior Plans Bulletin Board.
• Senior Day will be Friday, March 2. Seniors should have picture, announcement, and cap and gown order forms. If you do
    not, you may pick them up in guidance.
• Bring a copy of your notification letter to Mrs. Belo when you receive a scholarship or award – even if you will not
    accept. We are planning for Awards Day and want to recognize all achievements.
• Eagle Scout? Gold Award? Perfect SAT or ACT? Notify Mrs. Belo in guidance so you can be recognized.

                                                   Driver’s Education Info
Driver’s Education Sign Up sheets are now available in the Student Information Center in the main office lobby. You must be 14
and ½ yrs. of age to sign up. Completed forms are due back to Mr. Green in Pod 23 or the main office.
General Announcements

Attention Students: Time to design your own “school breakfast medal”. This should highlight the benefits of eating a
healthy breakfast. There will be a winner per school to be entered into a District Wide Contest where there will be 1 high school
winner of a $25 Visa/Amex card, and be entered into the National Contest representing WSFC schools.

Applications for the 2013 Yearbook Staff are available NOW in Room 303. Apply NOW to help produce the 450 page ALL

COLOR EAST FORSYTH YEARBOOK and to be in the Yearbook Class this fall! Applications are due Friday, Feb. 17 !

Need to rope a cowboy? Come buy one at the 13 Annual Mr. East Forsyth Date Auction. Tickets are on sale now, along with
calendars, posters, DVD’s, and tshirts! Stop by Room 506 or Pod 25 for prices and info. Saddle up with East Forsyth’s finest!

If you are interested in being on the 2012-2013 Talon staff, see Mrs. Woods in Room 505 for requirements and an
application.

Parking Sticker Info: Parking stickers continue to be on sale for juniors and seniors.
Stickers will be reduced to $57.50 beginning Jan. 24th! You must bring in your completed
parking permit form(available online or in the office), your drivers’ license and
registration, and be accompanied by a parent/guardian at the time of purchase.

Mu Alpha Theta, Math Honor Society will continue to run the Math Peer TutoringProgram in Room 307 on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 8:15-8:45am and 3:45-4:15pm. Please come by if you need help. They can help all levels of math.

Teacher Cadets are selling Raffle Tickets for an IPad! Tickets are $5.00 each and may be purchased from Mrs. Wallace in
Room 1108. The IPad will be given away in March at State Conference. You don’t have to be present to win!

Teacher Cadets are also selling Little Caesar Pizza/Salad/Cookie Dough the week of Feb. 13-17 ! See any FTA member to
order.

Any students interested in auditioning for Madrigals or Caprice, stop by the chorus room to sign up for an audition time and
pick up an audition packet from Mr. Brady. Auditions are Feb. 27-March 2 from 4:00-6:00pm. Audition slots are filling up quick
so be sure to come by ASAP!

Teacher Cadet is a course for rising Juniors and Seniors who are interested in teaching or similar careers involving children.
Teacher Cadet applications are available from Mrs. Wallace in Room 1108 or Mrs. Langley in Room 1102. All candidates for

Teacher Cadet I must have a completed application. The applications are due Friday, February 17 !

Athletics

Men’s Golf tryouts begin Monday, Feb. 13 . Report to Pine Knolls Golf Course by 4:20pm. Be ready to tee it up. Will let you
know where we will be the remainder of the week. Parents-make sure your students are picked up or have a ride home by 6pm.
That is when practice will end. Golfers may not hang around the course when practice is finished. BE SURE YOU HAVE
TURNED IN YOUR PHYSICAL – WITHOUT IT YOU CANNOT TRYOUT! If you have any questions concerning golf tryouts,

Track practice begins on Wednesday, Feb. 15th!
Girls’ Softball tryouts begin Monday, Feb. 13 at 4:00pm on the softball field. You must have a current physical to tryout. Turn in your
physicals to the main office or bring to tryouts!
Baseball tryouts begin Monday, Feb. 13. Be on the field at 4:00pm.
