                        Abstract

IEEE 802.23, Emergency Services, is now a working
group. Their first area is emergency calling.
To begin this effort, they have requested information on
Emergency Calling from IEEE 802.11, TGu.
A liaison, including information from the IEEE 802.11u
draft, has been prepared and approved by the TGu
    CRC (5-0-0)

             IEEE 802.23, Emergency Services
 • The IEEE 802.23 WG has determined that it first will address emergency
      calling.
 • It is gathering information, including:
       • National regulations
       • Current work in IEEE 802.11
 • The IEEE 802.23 July 2010 meeting minutes (sg-emergency-services-10-
      0045-ESSG-wg-minutes-san-diego-july-2010.pdf) includes:
       • “Review of existing ES 802 reporting technologies…
            • 802.11 (AI: George Bumiller)”
 • To assist them, a liaison has been prepared, including emergency calling
information from the 802.11u draft specification.
 • Approving this liaison during Monday’s opening plenary will enable it to
be provided to IEEE 802.23 before its September meeting starts the
      following day (Tuesday).
 • The draft liaison, IEEE 11-10/1022r0, has been approved by TGu 5-0-0
