2011 Appleton Junior Patriots 14U Wood Bat Classic
USSSA Sanctioned June 3-5, 2011 at Appleton East H.S.
Fee - $375 per team with no gate fee. $25 USSSA fee
Format – 3 game guarantee with pool play format. Weather permitting. In the event of
inclement weather, the tournament committee reserves the right to change the format.
Tournament Rules – High School Rules (NFHS) will apply for any rules not described, or not
satisfied by this document.
Run Limit – 15 runs after 3 innings, 12 runs after 4 innings, and 10 runs after 5 innings
Pitching Rules – 10 innings for the duration of the tournament. 1 pitch constitutes an inning.
Coaches must report innings pitched per player to the director at the conclusion of their games.
Bat restrictions – Must be natural wood bat. No composite of any kind allowed.
Time Limit – No new inning will start after 1hr 45mins. Championship and consolation games are
exempt from time limits; however run limit of 10 runs or more after 5 innings is in effect.
Tie Games – The California tie breaker rule will be used. (Last out of previous inning will be placed
at 2nd base with no outs)
Age Limit – Players cannot turn 15 years old before May 1st, 2011. Please be prepared to show a
birth certificate upon request of a tournament official.
Roster Limits – 20 players per team, but only 14 awards will be given for 1st and 2nd place. There
are no minimum playing time regulations.
Games – Games will be 7 innings. 5 innings (4 ½ if home team is ahead) will constitute a complete
Scorebook – Home team will be the official scorebook. We will coin flip for home team
determination prior to all games. This may be done prior to the conclusion of the previous game.
Rosters – The USSSA rosters must be turned in to the tournament directors (Keith Curran or Jason
Feucht) prior to your first game. You can print your rosters from the www.usssa.com website.
Intentional walk – No pitches are required. Notify home plate umpire of intentional walk.
Pitchers – Cannot return to pitch in same game once removed from that position. Pitchers must be
removed upon a second visit during the game (not inning) per pitcher to the mound by any coach.
(8 warm ups for new pitcher, 5 for between innings)
Courtesy Runners – May be used for pitchers and catchers. The runner must be a player who has
not been in the game. In the event all players have been in the game, the last player called out can
Sliding – Players must slide on a close play. The umpire will call the runner out if no attempt to
slide is made. This is umpire discretion on intent of the runner to intentionally not slide or to avoid
Lineup – The lineup may be 9 players, or 10 players with an extra hitter. EH must be set at start of
game and cannot be added during the game. If a player can’t finish a game and no legal
replacement available with an extra hitter playing, an out will be assessed when that spot comes up
to bat. A DH cannot be used with 10 hitters in the lineup. A DH may only be used if batting 9
players. An out also assessed in regular lineup (no EH) and no legal sub available if a starter cannot
finish the game. An out assessed when that turn to bat comes up.
Pregame – There is no pregame allowed on the infield. If time permits, teams may use the outfield
grass furthest from the dugouts to warm-up. Absolutely no warm-ups of any kind are allowed on
the softball fields adjacent to the baseball fields. This includes the batting cages for the softball
Protests – There are no protests. The umpire’s decisions are final. Appeals will be allowed on
Ineligible player – If an ineligible player is discovered (i.e. innings pitched, roster or age) that team
will forfeit the game or games that illegally were participated in.
Ejections – Players or coaches ejected must sit out the next game including playoff games.
Tie Breaker – (1) head to head (2) runs allowed (3) runs scored (4) coin flip
Appleton East Jr. Patriots and Appleton Area School District maintains no liability in the event
of injury, either accidental or intentional, while on the Appleton East campus. Teams are
responsible for their own insurance.
Carry-ins – Absolutely no carry-ins allowed during the duration of the tournament. We will
have full concessions available at both fields which are in close proximity to each other. We
reserve the right to ask any person to discard any food or drink brought onto the Appleton East
grounds. Please monitor your own teams and be respectful of our rules.
