                              APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for your interest in the School of Policy, Planning, and Development. Please use the provided forms
along with the Graduate Study Application to apply to our program.

In order to process your application without delay, please make sure to include all of the following items:

I. USC General Application Form
This form is located in the Graduate Study Application booklet. You may also apply online at the following
website: http://www.usc.edu/dept/admissions/grad/ Although the Graduate Study Application states that this form
should be sent to the Office of Admission, we request that you send all materials to SPPD Admissions in order to
expedite your application process.
II. Supplemental Application Form
Use the forms included in this booklet and return it to SPPD.
III. Required Attachments
Attachment I. A current resume that includes professional experience, extra curricular activities, as well as any
other pertinent experiences.
Attachment II. A personal statement* telling us why you have chosen the School of Policy, Planning, and
Development; how a master’s degree will affect or enhance your career aspirations or goals; and why you are
interested in pursuing a master’s degree at this time.
*Please consult individual program brochures for specific guidelines.
IV. Non-refundable Application Fee
$65 for U.S. students and $75 for international students. Current USC students, USC graduates, full-time USC
employees, or dependents of full-time USC employees are exempt from the application fee.
V. Official Transcripts
Please provide sealed official transcripts from all institutions attended. International students are required to submit
both the original language and English translation of their official transcript as separate documents.
VI. Letters of Recommendation
Three letters are required and should be accompanied by the enclosed forms. It is recommended that at least two
letters be provided by those most familiar with your academic performance.
VII. Test Scores
Send us your official GRE, LSAT, or GMAT scores. (GMAT is not accepted for the MPP program; LSAT is only
accepted for the MRED Program or by those applicants applying for a dual degree with the Law School.)
International students must submit official TOEFL scores.
