It will not be Chicago, it will be the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games You may have heard that the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games were announced today. After many rousing speeches and millions of dollars invested, only one city was able to come out on top. In the preceding weeks, there was much speculation whether US President Barrack Obama would travel to the final meeting of the International Olympic Committee. With only a short week’s notice, it was announced that he would. Unfortunately this last minute trip was to no avail. Even after having First Lady Michelle Obama speak as well, US President Barrack Obama, known as a great orator, could not persuade the International Olympic Committee to host the games in Chicago. The Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games, as they have come to be known, was the final decision handed down by the IOC. Brazilian President Lulu gave a very gripping speech which no doubt helped in the final decision. There was also a former IOC member from Brazil who helped support the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games. The Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games will be the first ever to be held in South America. One contributing factor to note is the fact that Brazil has become known for its green energy programs. In fact, the country is entirely energy independent due to heavy investment in bio-fuels produced from sugar cane. The next 7 years will move very fast as Brazil prepares for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games. Much infrastructure must be designed and built as well as hotels and transit systems to handle the influx of tourists. Whether Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games will turn a profit for the country remains to be determined. Many countries spend more than they make but there are also softer incentives to host the games. For Brazil the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games rewards include, a boost to national pride, interest from the foreign investment community and continued tourism in the years to come. The Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games will no doubt be a win for Brazil and for South America. Since this is still a developing part of the world, the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 games will no doubt fuel the growth for progress.
