Exciting High Value Multi-Sector Export Opportunity in Brazil
Construction Equipment, Mining, Port, Rail, Water, Materials Handling and
Environmental Equipment and Services Required
Brazil Trade Mission 24 May – 1 June 2012 São Paulo and Belo Horizonte
UK Trade & Investment have appointed the CEA to deliver an extended Trade Mission to Brazil to promote a
major High Value opportunity for UK manufacturers and service providers in addition to the planned CEA
trade mission around the M&T Expo. The $US5 billion Pedra de Ferro project is for the implementation of a
new 470.5 million metric tonne open pit iron ore mine (by a FTSE 100 listed company) in the north east of
Brazil together with extensive infrastructure developments. The mine developers have specifically requested
meetings with UK manufacturers and consultants in order to develop their supplier list and allow the mine to
start producing on schedule in 2014.Details of the Pedra de Ferro project are included with this mailing.
Opportunities exist for both construction equipment and mining companies in addition to a wide range of
multi-sector products and services. An initial, but by no means exhaustive, “shopping list” of mine and
associated requirements is included with this mailing.
It is likely that much of the construction equipment required for the development of the mine, port, rail and
water transport infrastructure will be purchased by the lead and sub-contractors. Meetings will be arranged
with many of these groups during the mission.
The Mission will compliment the existing CEA Mission and UK Group at M&T Expo (São Paulo 29 May – 2
June) and will visit São Paulo and Belo Horizonte.
Multi-sector equipment and expertise is required for:-
Mine infrastructure construction
Extraction (drilling and stripping)
Loading and Transportation
Processing (crushing, milling and floatation)
150 kilometre industrial water supply pipeline system
Transport Infrastructure, Logistics, Rail
New port development
Offshore Shipping Terminal and Container Terminal
Port / Materials Handling
3 km conveyor system
Education, Training and Skills (the project will create some 8,000 direct and indirect jobs).
This unique opportunity offers a UKTI validated High Value project with quantifiable prospects for UK
manufacturers, contractors and consultants to one of the world’s fastest growing economies. Your company
cannot afford to miss out.
In addition to the opportunities offered by the mine project, the CEA is working with UKTI in Brazil to deliver a
mission programme of meetings with:-
State Development Authorities
World Cup Delivery Authority (SECOPA)
Leading Brazilian contractors including Odebrecht, Andrade Gutierrez etc,
The Brazilian Army (major purchasers of construction equipment)
Global manufacturers producing in Brazil
Other end users of construction and mining equipment.
