                      Leadership Scholarship For Attendance at the
                          Washington Leadership Conference

Purpose of the Leadership Scholarship:

The Leadership Scholarship is designed specifically to increase FFA member’s educational experiences, leadership
and personal development through the Washington Leadership Conference.

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

The National FFA Alumni Association will provide one Leadership Scholarship to the Illinois FFA Alumni
Association for every 500 active alumni members within the state as of June each year. The scholarship shall
consist of a complete registration fee for a FFA member to attend the Washington Leadership Conference. One
applicant may be submitted from each FFA Chapter that has an active Alumni affiliate.

What is the Washington Leadership Conference?

The function of the Washington Leadership Conference is to further develop leadership, confidence and skills.
Those attending will become personally acquainted with National FFA Officers, gain appreciation for our nation’s
heritage and participate in leadership and personal development workshops. There will also be an opportunity to
tour some of the nation’s historical sites. The five day conferences are conducted during the months of June, July
and August.

Guidelines for Selection:

    1. Each local alumni affiliate in active operation and in good standing is eligible to submit one (1)
       FFA member to the State FFA Alumni Association for judging. In order to be in good standing,
       an alumni affiliate must have a minimum of ten dues paying member, a list of affiliate officers
       and a current roster on file with the Illinois FFA Center. Chapters that do not submit the dues,
       roster and list of officers to the Illinois FFA Center by March 1st will not be eligible to receive a
       scholarship until those items are submitted and they recover their “Good Standing”.

    2. The attached application form must be completed. In addition, a 100-200
       word typed paper on “Why I want to attend” is required.

    3.   The application must be signed by the applicant, parent or guardian, local FFA Advisor, high school
         principal, and local FFA Alumni President.

    4.   Each scholarship recipient is to provide his or her own transportation. The nominating alumni affiliate may
         wish to assist in this expense as a part of their efforts.

    5.   The application must be postmarked by March 1st.
