THE IPHONE 4S
LOOKS THE SAME
BUT IS IT?
Those expecting something new from Apple were just a bit disappointed when Apple
launched its new iPhone4S last October (4th October 2011). It shared a lot of the same physical
features as the iPhone 4; the dimensions were the same as was the 3.5 inch, 960 x 640 Retina
Display screen. However as appearances are often deceptive, internally the iPhone 4S was
packed with many new surprises.
The iPhone 4S comes with the all new iOS5 operating system, which has already created quite
the buzz of being the world’s most advanced and the easiest to use operating system for mobile
phones. In the heart of the iPhone 4S lies the super-fast Dual-core A5 chip; which is the same
processor as used in the iPad2. The processor is super-fast as apps and Youtube videos load in
just a matter of seconds. While on the graphics front the speed has become an amazing seven
times faster ensuring intensive and impressive graphics quality which takes gaming to a
complete different level.
The impressive 8 mega pixel camera is something we have all been waiting for; besides adding a
ton more pixels, Apple has also added an extra lens and improved optics with an f/2.4 aperture
which captures more light for better colors and picture quality. This allow more light to enter the
camera lens resulting in clearer, crisper pitures. The best thing about this camera is that it
literally takes only 1.1 second for the first picture and a fraction of a second for the second
picture. With this camera the iPhone 4S can also record 1080p Full HD Videos. This iPhone allow
one to ditch their bulky SLR’s and camcorders.
The iPhone 4S is equipped with the Siri Intelligent Assistant; Siri is different from the usual voice
assistants found on other phones. It does not have a nice voice if that is what you are expecting;
it sets reminders, sends messages, makes calls and searches for information upon request. Siri
supports three international languages French, German and English. Although quite an
advancement and impressive, we would hope that they incorporate the Spanish language soon.
The iPhone 4S supports both GSM and CDMA thereby earning the title World Phone. The battery
life is just what one wants as it supports 8 hours of talk time on 3G and up to 14 hours on 2G. 9
hours of Wi-Fi and 6 hours of browsing can also be done on iPhone 4S. The standby time is
around 200 hours. The new iPhone 4S is available in 16 GB, 32GB and 64 GB memory capacity.
iCloud the new storage device for you iPhone. iCloud stores all your music, photos, movies,
documents, and a whole lot more, then wirelessly pushes them to all your Apple devices. iCloud
is so easy to use. iCloud is by far the easiest way to manage all your content. How much is the
iCloud service and is it better to just buy an iPhone with more memory or should one buy an
iPhone with less memory, then purchase the iCloud service to store their data? If one were to
purchase a new iPhone 4S with 64gb of memory it could easily set one back $399. This would
allow someone to load just about as many videos, movies and apps as they would ever want.
Now let’s take a look at purchasing the new 16gb 4S iPhone. This phone will set one back
around $199 which is a $200 savings over the 64gb but there is a good chance one might run
out of memory. So the question is... Will the $200 savings benefit you in the end? We think yes!
Apple offers 5gb of iCloud storage for free and 10gb of additional storage per year for just $20 a
year, 20gb of additional storage for $40 a year and 50gb of additional storage for $100 a year.
You do the math and decide what works best for you.
