Urban League to Build 5.1 Million Housing Development in Northeast Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY – November 29, 2007 – The Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City, Inc. today
received approval of a tax credit application to build a $5.1 million housing development in northeast
The Oklahoma Housing Finance Authority board awarded the Urban League with $500,000 in tax credits
to complete the development.
Capital Square Villas is a 36-unit town-home, duplex style neighborhood to be located on the west side of
Kelley Avenue, between NE 24th street and NE 26th street. Rental rates will range from $450 to $650 per
month including some utilities. Additional discounts will be available to residents with disabilities.
The duplexes consist of two and three bedroom floor plans, approximately 1,170 to 1,350 square feet.
Each will include a washer and dryer and garage. Residents will also have access to onsite computer
stations, library, playground, and onsite Urban League services.
“As part of our Opportunity Agenda, the Urban League is committed to bring affordable, quality housing
to northeast Oklahoma City,” stated Dr. Valerie Thompson, Urban League president and CEO. “Not only
will this bring much needed housing to the area, but it will stimulate economic development. According
to an economic impact analysis by the Oklahoma City Chamber, this project will generate over $1 million
annually to the local economy.”
Urban League officials expect to break ground on the development within the next six months.
