Welcome to the Perkins School of the Arts! We have a very exciting year planned for everyone! We hope that everyone will enjoy the
opportunity to express their creativity and develop their talents! We would like to extend our warmest gratitude to all of the families and
students of this year’s company. We will perform with the grace of angels and reach for the shining stars in all of us!
RECITAL: By signing up for classes at the Perkins School of the Arts, you are agreeing that you will be participating in all performances
of the recital for your studio since choreography will be set and participation in all shows is mandatory. Please note, our Vestal Studio
students will be having a recital in their locale on May 19, 2012. Vestal Recreational students will NOT be required to perform in the
Norwich Recitals but the Vestal Competition students WILL be required to perform in both the Vestal and the Norwich Recitals.
VESTAL Recital Date: May 19, 2012 Required dress rehearsal will be May 19, 2012. The Norwich Recital dates are: June 8,9 & 10, 2012.
The Norwich required dress rehearsals are June 5, 6, & 7, 2012. We must have the required signed participation contract when the costumes
TUITION- Note: ALL tuition is due the 1st of every month (including SEPTEMBER), and the rates are broken down into a convenient 10-
month payment schedule, from SEPTEMBER through and including the month of JUNE. Any payment received after the 10th of the month
will be charged a $2.00 late fee PER CLASS. If your account is still outstanding in 30 days, it will be assessed a 2.5% late fee on the total amount
due, and a bill will be sent home. WE DO NOT MAIL OUT MONTHLY STATEMENTS UNLESS YOUR TUITION IS LATE!! Please see your see
your Student profile and payment contract attached. This paperwork MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO the first day of classes. You may mail it
to the Norwich studio, or place in a sealed envelope and put through the drop slot in the front door of the Norwich Studio. We must have the signed
contracts and medical release forms prior to your student beginning classes. In the event of more than one person responsible for account payments,
the EXACT amounts each responsible person is paying MUST BE WRITTEN ON THE CONTRACT, and it must be signed by both parties
involved. (Example, Jane Doe paying 50% of all costs, John Doe paying 50% of all costs..or Jane Doe paying 50% of everything EXCEPT solos,
John Doe paying 50% tuition PLUS ALL SOLOS….)
By the year - this will guarantee your spot in classes and recital and avoid any late charges or penalties.
All By the year Tuition must be paid in full by 8/26/11 per the below schedule:
Regular hour classes: $360.00 per class per year
Pre-Dance: $320.00 per year (45 minute class- Norwich and Vestal)
Pre-Dance: $300.00 per year (30 minute class – Norwich only)
By the month – There will be 10 payments per below schedule (September through and including JUNE):
Regular Hour: $36.00 per class per month for 10 months Note: Ballet 1 is a “regular hour” class
Pre-Dance: (45 MIN CLASS) $32.00 per month
Pre-Dance: (30 MIN Class, Norwich only): $30.00 per month
SPECIAL MONTHLY UNLIMITED OPTION: Take as many classes as you wish, for $2650 Annual Tuition fee or broken into a flat monthly rate of
$265/month for 10 months (September-June).
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE SEE THE DESK OR CALL THE MAIN OFFICE (NORWICH STUDIO) AT 607-336-6143. Payment in full is
required by August 26th, 2011 IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR ANY DISCOUNTED SPECIALS. Check, Visa or MasterCard is acceptable.
Solo’s-Duo’s-Trio’s-Extra Choreography charges follow:
ALL EXTRA CHOREOGRAPHY CLASSES WILL HAVE A flat rate choreography fee per student. You will notice there are no small
groups/solos/duos/trio/large groups included on your student’s schedule. This is because we offer an open audition for the spots available in Extra
Choreography classes. These will be held in October, and you will be billed upon notification that your student has been placed in a particular class based on
their audition results. If your student wishes to be considered for auditions for Extra Choreography they MUST “X” the line on the Student profile sheet that
needs to be returned to the studio by September 1, 2011. ***ALL INTENSIVE STUDENTS WILL BE CHARGED A FLAT FEE OF $450.00 FOR SOLO
CHOREOGRAPHY AND 5 REHEARSAL SLOTS WITH CHOREOGRAPHER OF CHOICE (BASED ON AVAILABILITY OF CHOREOGRAPHER). REHEARSAL TIMES WILL
WORK AROUND THE CHOREOGRAPHER’S SCHEDULE. DUO/TRIOS Flat rate choreography fee of $250.00 per student. Small Groups: $150 Regular Groups:
$100 Choreography will begin once fees have been paid.
NOTE: ANYONE who is on FLAT RATE “Monthly Unlimited” tuition is considered to be an INTENSIVE STUDENT and must therefore
follow the requirements for Intensive Study. (2 technique classes, 2 ½ hours ballet, Modern are required )
Secondary Students choreography will be billed as follows:
All solos $24.00 per ½ hour All duo’s /trio’s 22.00 per ½ hour per student
All soloists can miss no more than 3 lessons. If you do not call to cancel your solo/duo in advance you will be billed!!! Strict attendance will be
taken not only by the desk but also by each teacher. ***Excessive absences will result in your student being dropped from solo instruction, and they
will not be able to perform their solo at competition or recital. ALSO, if your account is overdue, no private instructions will be permitted until
account is brought current.
Once you have decided on your payment cycle (September through and including June), please circle it on your tuition/student profile contract and
be sure to return it to the studio by September 1st so your payment preference can be input into the system. SEPTEMBER TUITION IS DUE
PRIOR TO the start of classes – and if you are taking advantage of any of the discount specials, the payment is due by August 26th. The studio main
office address is: Amber Perkins School of the Arts, 38-40 Birdsall Street, Norwich NY 13815. IF you have classes on your schedule that you DO
NOT WISH TO TAKE, please indicate this on the Confirmation sheet enclosed with your packet and draw a line through the classes you do not wish
to take. Return the confirmation sheet to the studio with your tuition payment and your Student Profile/Payment Contract forms by September 1st.
Please contact the Main Studio in Norwich at 607-336-6143 no later than September 30th to make any changes to your schedule. Leave a message on
the answering machine and we will call you back. ALL Schedules must be confirmed by September 30th, 2011.
COMPETITION STUDENTS - All competition students will be broken up into 3 levels:
PRIMARY - 1 technique class required per week
SECONDARY - 1 technique, 1 ballet class required per week
INTENSE - 2 technique classes plus 2 1/2 hours of ballet per week required. ALL FLAT RATE STUDENTS ARE INTENSIVE. You
have been placed in these levels by Amber. NOTE: Only the secondary and intensive students who must also be enrolled in MODERN will be
eligible to audition for production classes. (Remember, Modern DOES NOT count as a technique class). The audition dates for production will be
posted on the board and on our website www.perkinsdance.com after regular classes have begun.
***Students may start their classes in the technique of their various forms of dance together, and the classes may then be split for choreography
at a later date*** Some will be Saturday Choreography classes
ATTENDANCE: Consistent attendance is crucial to a student’s continued progress. Please call the studio if you are going to be late or absent from class. NO
REFUNDS will be given! Assigned classes not held due to holidays, illness, vacation or weather may be made up by your student taking any technique class to make
up for the class time missed. It is the student’s responsibility to make up the classes, and they must be made up in the month of the absence. See the desk to check in
for the make up time.
Further important information for the 2011-2012 School Year
**Please also note new payment schedule for costumes payments, and note the date the deposits are required. This should ease the
burden of coming up with all the payment at one time. Payment IN FULL for costumes will be due by 12/15/11.
**There will again be Saturday Choreography Classes. Again, ALL DUOS/TRIOS/SMALL/LARGE GROUPS – ANY ADDITIONAL
SPECIAL CHOREOGRAPHY NOT INCLUDED ON YOUR STUDENTS SCHEDULE will be charged choreography fees. Signups will
begin in October for solos/duos/trios. Auditions for Special Choreography classes will be held in October. Remember, your student must be a
secondary or intensive student, and must be enrolled in modern and attending all required technique classes in order to be eligible to audition.
Choreography fees for the subsequent placement will be billed upon notification that your student has been chosen for special choreography, and
payment for those will be due upon receipt of bill.
Please try to make any schedule changes PRIOR to beginning classes The NORWICH studio will be open on Friday August 26th from 6-9 pm and
Saturday August 27th 9am-1pm to aid in walk-in registrations for both Norwich and Vestal Students. You may also EMAIL us your schedule
changes prior to September 1 and we will take care of your requests. We will post any other hours we are open prior to September 8 on our
www.perkinsdance.com and also on our message machine. You may email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Main Office at 607-336-6143. If
you get the answering machine, please be sure to speak clearly and leave your name and telephone number and someone will call you back.
All schedule changes must be made by September 30, 2011. At that point, teachers will be planning their choreography. Please note, you must
notify the FRONT DESK if you are dropping a class by Sept. 30th – NOT the teacher! If the desk is not notified, you may continue to be billed for
Meeting for Competition students AND Parent(s) will be held at a later date. This will be a mandatory meeting to go over the competition
schedules and requirements for this year.
DRESS CODE: The studio dress code must be adhered to at all times. There will be no exceptions. ALL STUDENTS are expected to follow the
dress code or they will have to sit out the class! Make sure your student has the appropriate dress and shoes for classes.
GIRLS: solid color leotard and tights, hair must be pulled back and secured firmly! NO JEWELRY
Ballet - Black leotard, pink tights, hair must be in a tight bun!! NO JEWELRY
BOYS: For all classes - black pants and a white shirt

IF YOU NEED DIRECTIONS, PLEASE REQUEST PRIOR TO JUNE 1 ST, 2012
Students should attend all their scheduled classes as well as any mandatory rehearsal outlined above. Additional mandatory rehearsals may
come up and we will make every attempt to give ample notice.
Please be sure to call the studio if your student will be absent, or if you are planning a vacation. All scheduled classes are paid for. In the
event of your student’s absence, class time may be made up by attending a technique class – but they must alert the front desk that they are
doing a “make-up”. Failure to do so may result in getting billed for that class attendance.
Since we do have many students from many different areas attending classes here, our studio vacations may not coincide with your school
vacations. Please place this list in a safe place so you will know when we are closed for vacations.
EMERGENCY CLOSINGS: (weather or otherwise): We will make every attempt to notify radio station 93.9, and posted on the WBNG-TV
channel. The closing will also be posted on our website www.perkinsdance.com whenever possible, and on our studio answering services.
Students can make up the missed class by taking any technique class within the same month. The Desk must be notified of the make-up class.
