Resigning From A Teaching Position: Resignation Letter No No
When we think of resigning from a teaching position, what pops into our head is
to write a resignation letter. It is true that these letters are also required for an
official release. It is a way to let the school administration be aware of your
desire to resign and included are the reasons why.
Writing a letter of resignation to assure you leaving from a teaching position is
never easy. In fact, this is one of the hardest things to do especially if you still
have the heart to the teaching profession. With the help of the Internet, you can
find ways on how to properly write a formal letter of resignation. So, here we
will identify the things that should not be written inside it.
1. People’s names. The letter of resignation must have a peaceful content inside
it. Even if a person is responsible for such decision, it would be preferable to
omit the names that somehow contributed to you leaving. This would be an
argument from the school if you were quoting a person or two that caused you to
leave and would only bring harm to them. Although the school needs to know
your reason, you better
do it in a subtle and
decent way possible.
2. Your feelings. If there
is a great wave of
emotion involved in your
resignation, you must not
distribute it to the
administration thru your
letter. If you have been
frustrated or angry about
an issue or two do not
indicate it in the letter.
Better yet keep it to yourself. This letter is not a problem that you would
normally publish on the Internet. It's something personal and professional. Do
not act like a child trying to find more empathy from someone superior. Stand
firm and suppress those emotions calmly.
3. Your job soon. Although the reason why you could resign from a teaching job
is to find or reside on a greener pastures, do not let the school know where you
would go. Wherever possible, keep the details for your consumption. Do not
include the name of the company or the school you prefer and why you would
better be there than your current institution. It would be an insult to the school
that somehow fed you for a while.
Here are some things that need to be carefully left unwritten in your letter of
resignation. Whenever possible, be brief and direct, without even giving the
things above. As stated do it professionally and decently. Resigning from a
teaching position should be easy: just write the right resignation letter and you
are of to go.
