CLAREMONT HIGH SCHOOL ORIGINAL CREDIT SUMMER SCHOOL Summer School 2012 Information Friday, June 22nd – Friday, July 20th (5 days per week) No class meetings on July 4th Period 1: 8:00 – 11:00 AM Lunch: 11:00 – 11:30 AM Period 2: 11:30 – 2:30 PM OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR THOSE OUTSIDE CLAREMONT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BEGINS ON MAY 14, 2012 CLAREMONT HIGH SCHOOL COURSES FOR ORIGINAL CREDIT US History (6 hrs/day for 4 weeks) Algebra 2-2 (3 hrs/day for 4 weeks from 8:00 to 11:00 AM) Trigonometry (3 hrs/day for 4 weeks from 8:00 to 11:00 AM) Journalism (6 hrs/day for 2 weeks from July 9th – July 20th) Economics (3 hrs/day for 4 weeks from 8:00 to 11:00 AM) This course is only available to incoming seniors pending counselor approval Government (3 hrs/day for 4 weeks from 11:30 to 2:30 PM) This course is only available to incoming seniors pending counselor approval. PE (3 hrs/day for 4 weeks) – May take one or two periods Complete registration form on the back. Turn in to CHS front office by May 14th for priority registration. The CHS office is open from 7:30 – 4:00 PM. Forensics (Speech and Debate) June 25th – July 20th (1:00 – 5:00 Daily) OPEN TO ALL GRADES ENROLLMENT INFORMATION Classes run for 6 hours per day for 10 days or 3 hours per day for 4 weeks depending on how the class is run (see chart above). One absence is allowed. Session 1 is from June 22nd – July 6th with Wednesday, July 4th observed as a holiday. Session 2 is from July 9th – July 20th. Grade level is as of August 2012. Complete the application information on the back of this form. There will be no exceptions to the attendance policy. One absence will be allowed. On the 2nd absence, the student will be dropped. 1 tardy = ½ absence. Missing 20 minutes or more of a class equals 1 absence. Any school suspension will result in removal from Summer School. The school’s rules and expectations during the regular school year apply to summer school. Please visit our school website in order to view these rules and expectations. Turn in your completed registration form for Claremont High School Summer School to the CHS office by May 14th to receive priority registration. The office is open from 7:30 – 4:00 PM Be aware that the courses above are contingent on student enrollment. If a class’ enrollment drops to a point that the class can not be funded, the class may be dropped at any time with no credit being awarded the student. These courses are UC approved and a letter grade will be given. For incoming freshman Claremont High School Summer School provides an opportunity to maintain academic skills, prepare for freshman year, and become acquainted with CHS.
