FSM 5300 - LAW ENFORCEMENT CHAPTER 5370 - SUITABILITY REQUIREMENTS, TRAINING, AND STANDARDS 5376.04b - Special Agents in Charge It is the responsibility of the special agents in charge to: 1. Ensure that all law enforcement trainees receive professional law enforcement career development. 2. Establish a review panel and assign a field training officer to evaluate the ability and performance of law enforcement trainees. 3. Submit requests for certification of trainees that have successfully completed the Field Training and Evaluation Program to the Assistant Director of Training, Development, and Standards by submitting all official training records within 90 days of completing the training program. If records are not received within this timeframe, a waiver request must be submitted to the Director for trainee to continue full duty status as a Law Enforcement Officer pending certification. 4. Submit requests for waiver of the Field Training Evaluation Program to the Director, Law Enforcement and Investigations (LEI) if the established waiver criteria have been met (FSM 5376.11). 5. Recommend law enforcement personnel to perform the duties of a field training officer to the Director, LEI upon meeting established training requirements. 6. Initiate appropriate personnel action for law enforcement personnel failing to meet the field training requirements through the Director, LEI. 5376.1 - Field Training and Evaluation Program The Field Training and Evaluation Program must commence after completion of the basic Land Management Police Training Program conducted at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FSH 5309.11, sec. 72.16 and 72.42).
