					FULBRIGHT ETA 2011 PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION                         TEFL WORKSHOP

                     JUMBLED LESSON PLAN: INTEGRATED SKILLS
           from Tasks for Teacher Education by Rosie Tanner and Catherine Green



      a. In large, clear letters, Ss write captions for their photos: Ss write about
         themselves (e.g., My name’s Tomek. I love skating.) and about the
         famous people (e.g., Her name’s Madonna. She’s American.) (10 min)


      b. Discuss completed projects with Ss; give feedback on posters’
         appearance and use of English language. (5 min)


      c. Ss make posters: Groups stick photos on posters, plus captions they
         wrote. Add titles, and decorations. Remind them to stick to English!
         (5-10 min)


      d. Introduce Ss to project:      explain purpose, draw picture of poster on
         board. (3 min)


      e. Materials:
             Photo of each student brought by Ss
             Pictures of famous people brought by Ss
             A few sheets of large paper for posters
             Scissors, glue and colored pens


      f.   Put posters on wall; Ss read other groups’ posters. (5 min)


      g. Ss show other members of their group the captions they have written;
         group corrects each other’s English. (5-10 min)


      h. Ss get out photos of themselves and their pictures of famous people; Ss
         break into groups of 5 (2 min)


      i.   Objectives:
               To produce a poster on which every S has a photo of him/herself
                  with a caption, and a picture of a famous person with a caption.
               To revise present tense, possessive adjectives, contractions (I’m,
                  he’s, she’s) and names of countries and nationalities.
