IAT MODIFICATION MINIMUM DESCRIPTION STANDARDS IMPLEMENTATION DATE: September 21, 2012 SUMMARY The minimum description standards for IAT entries were modified to clarify certain fields that need to be included on the consumer’s bank statement when certain types of payment information is included in an IAT Entry. When an IAT entry includes information related to terminal city, terminal state, terminal identification code/location, and check serial number, it must be printed on the statement. The RDFI must examine the secondary SEC Code field within the IAT transaction for SEC Codes that require terminal data and check serial numbers (ARC, BOC, MTE, POP, POS, RCK, SHR). When these values exist, the required data can be obtained from the remittance information within the IAT Entry.
